Just wondering how many people rushed to get UK settlement visa applications in before doomsday (9th of July).

Apart from being generally interesting, it might also help to give an indication of waiting times etc.

Submitted ours on 19th of June as that was planned date anyway. When booking appointment with VFS we could choose virtually any time or date throughout the coming week. Look surprisingly quiet..

was gearing up to the application, done all the marriage bits and pieces , got the babys uk passport back, and birth registration when i stumbled across this news about Theresa Bloody May... spent the following weekend getting everything into a pack to send to my agent

was dissappointed i had to stumble across the news instead of the agent letting me know..... then their bangkok office didnt have a signed copy of my paaport apparently so had to rush to do that... 58 quid by parcel force.... was signed for but didnt arrive

the vfs appointment was monday and this was 4pm friday.... so i had to leave work get home from work an hour and a half commute, make more copies and sign them... then get to heathrow T3 and beg someone to take them before checkin closes for the eva air, BA and TG Than air flights, after many unsuccessful attempts asking thai falang couples as they might empaphise with my position, unfortunaltely most of the men were the drippy type who wouldnt even make eye contact.... and the wives were wearing the trousers anyway.."no solly dahling we be in big lush now".....

the Official for Thai air approached a group of female backpackers...on my behalf, and they agreed to take the copies and leave them at the avis desk where my wife could collect them the next morning and all went well... ive gave the girls a good drink as I intend to get the money back from parcelforce anyway as the person who signed was not the named recipient.

then on the same day as my mrs was having the TB test... she failed... absolute con.. she said she couldnt see anything on the x-ray and she had a BCG at school so how could she carry TB... money making con... id rather they take the money and not make her stay in bangkok for three day test..

anyway we managed to move the appointment to friday 6th July... she got the TB all clear on Thursday, and applied on Friday .......

I hope it was worth the ball ache and rushing around.....she cant blame me for not trying at least...

if we managed to get it approved , the three years earlier IDL is worth the rush alone.... otherwise it would be schengen visas just for short trips abroad... and the new rules being a limited company earner on very low salary and high dividends without years of accounts for the same company.... things would have been more difficult

But we will enjoy Egypt this year once they are over... i need a Hols other than Thailand..

I have posted the application date on (7x7's) the other specific application time page and will report back when it comes or is rejected.

good luck everyone
