National Holidays 2Nd And 3Rd Of August?

Featured Replies

whistling.gif I just love to make the boozer & loser brigade get angry and froth and foam at the mouth.

So:

2 August (Thur) Asalha Bucha (Puja) Day National Holiday

3 August (Fri) Wan Khao Phansa Beginning of Buddhist Lent

Both these days are shown in red on my Thai calender here in the house.

Are these public holidays and will there be an alchohol ban in effect this year?

But actually what I really want to know is whether immigration ofices...Chaeng Wattana in Bangkok for example....will be open or closed those days ?

If they are closed that means a 4 day period when immigration offices will be closed.

Those of us on 90 day reporting may need to make plans if that is so.

Govt. offices and schools normally take both as holidays. Banks, I can't recall. In situations like this, the prudent thing to do is to presume that both will be holidays, unless and until you receive information (not guesses) to the contrary.

I have now consulted my official source. Banks will be closed on only August 3.

The situation is analogous to Christmas Eve/Christmas Day or New Yr's Eve/New Yr's. day in the west. On the first day of this two day holiday, businesses which are normally open in the evenings may close earlier than normal.

All I care about is, will Soi Cowboy be open?
