New Tyres - Thumbs Up For Autoboy In Nathon

Featured Replies

Very pleased with the service and prices there.

4 x Michelin Latitude Cross 265x70x16 Tyres

Fitted & Balanced

4-Wheel Laser Alignment

27,000 Baht.

They did the laser alignment, took it out for a test drive. Came back, hooked the gear up, checked it again and made a couple of adjustments to the toe and caster. Got everything spot-on.

Very professional service.

things are looking up on the island.

Just don't tell anyone!

Where is Autoboy?

Driving from Maenam direction, go through Nanthon .... it's on the right side just after you get off the oneway system... perhaps two or three hundred meters (?) ... just past the temple, if memory serves... before the turn to Samui Immigration ..... any ways!

You memory has eluded you it's 300meters on the left just after a shop that sells ice.

I went round the entire island to all the shops, including the place opposite Tesco you mentioned in an older thread.

Good quality make 265x70x16 tyres, i.e. Bridgestone, Mitchelin, etc were all around 6,500 a corner.

I had my girlfriend call Autoboy in Suratthani and was quoted the same price.

I also I compared the prices with the online places like cockpit, etc. 6,500-7,500 for quality tyres in that size.

They must have really liked you to give you the exact same tyres for 18k Rooo!

I never thought to ask... No doubt there's some guy cutting new treads in to them right now with a pen knife!

We also read the previous topic and went elsewhere for tyres until renting a property close by and coming back to a flat tyre while parked on a severe incline. They came out and found us within minutes, made the car stable and jacked off the tyre, ran it back to the shop removed the nail and inserted a tube, back to the car and refit.... mountain call out charge about 300baht

Another occasion limped in with a collapsed wheel bearing within minutes of total failure, straight in with no wait, total removable of hub and drift in new bearing while we waited and watched, refit full road and hand back within 30mins... 3000baht including all labour and parts.

That said on both occasions we avoided the 'shop front' tyre shop on the corner and drove into the Soi into the back workshop about 100mtrs up on the left where you get straight to the mechanics and the guy who seems to be the manager (rides what looks like a mini motor-cross bike) who speaks good English.
