yoga100
Later this year i will be heading back to bangkok from either greece or turkey and upon my arrival i will be looking at the possibility of securing a multi stop air ticket that will take in shanghai, san francisco and a couple of south american countrys(say rio de janiro and buonas ares) I'd expect to arrive in bangkok in october and return to europe in april,2013 and would probably be looking at setting off and returning from the americas/china between early november and early january,2013 Has anyone had any experience of multi stop tickets starting from and returning to either bangkok,kl or singapore as i'd probably set off from whichever country offered the best deals l
craigt3365
I've never done this, but have read the best RTW tickets are obtained in London. Here's a few sites for research: http://www.airtreks.com/ Lots of great articles here: http://www.bootsnall.com/ You might also contact one of the big airlines and see what they can do. They have these alliances that allow them to setup trips like this. I would guess BA, UA?
WilliaminBKK
You can play with these RTW- Round the World Planners Star Alliance http://www.staralliance.com/en/fares/round-the-world-fare/ One World http://www.oneworld.com/flights/round-the-world-fares/ Skyteam http://www.skyteam.com/your-trip/Round-the-World-Planner/ When you start planning and playing they will not allow ``back tracking`` so make sure your always heading in one direction, also make triple sure if you purchase say Star Alliance-One World-Skyteam & say your first airline is Turkish Airlines (plated by TK) you can actually make changes say in Rio with Lufthansa-a non issue if your dates are firm. Perfect! That's what I was thinking of, but couldn't remember all the details.

I've been on 3 separate rtw tickets before(the first of which took me to bangkok about 12 years ago)but i dont think rtw tickets are what i need as they often require u to go to australia as one of the stops I think my best bet might be to get to bangkok later this year and start asking around the travel agents about cheap options to the americas and china, either with single tickets or multi stop
roamer
Multi stops from BKK/SIN/KUL can sometimes best be found in travel pages of Bangkok Post oddly enough.

craigt3365
I know airtreks will put a ticket together for you with any and all stops you desire. No need to visit Australia. May be different with the big airline groups. I've done several RTW trips, but never bought a RTW ticket. Too limiting. And in the end, I had flexibility and paid about the same price. Though I didn't visit Easter Island which is quite an expensive jaunt. As are the various South Pacific islands... I've found differences in prices when originating from the US vs. BKK. Not a big deal, but 10-15% more here in BKK. My recommendation is do searches using multiple search engines as well as contacting travel agents. A great list of these search engines is here, along with some interesting travel websites: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/527870-airline-information-and-flight-deals-for-expats/ I also like Kayak's alert feature. You can put in a search and have them email you on a regular basis when the prices change. Great stuff. Unfortunately, not all airlines are supported by some search engines. For example, in the US, Southwest Airlines is not. A great choice for cheap flights inside the US.
THAIPHUKET
1. is there a systematic price difference between http://www.airtreks.com/ and the http://matrix.itasoftware.com/ ? 2. One night in a hotel can make the trip a package deal, i.e. cheaper. That was my experience when I searched on matrix Frankfurt, Mexico, US several stops- Frankfurt. At first , the travel agent said he can not meet the matrix. Then he rose to the occasion and underpriced matrix by adding one hotel night in Dallas. daviddrinkell
Flight Centre (UK) website has a RTW journey planner which should give you some idea of costs. http://www.flightcentre.co.uk/flights/round-the-world/journey-planner
