Extending Multiple Entry "O" Visa

Recommended Posts

I have a multiple entry "O" Visa that expires on 15th August, this was gained by having a Thai Child, from Hull Consulate in UK.

I leave Thailand on the 15th September to go back to the UK, my stamp expires then as I came back to Thailand 1 month ago.

My question is can I extend my stay for another year while I'm still here or do I just apply for another "O" Visa when I get back to the UK?

If I can extend it here, what is the maximum time it can be extended by and what is the procedure and cost.

Many thanks for any advice given.

There are two options providing you qualify.

The 60 day extension is quite straight forward.

The 12 month extension requires you to be recognised as the legal father.

Your name on the birth certificate is not enough.

You may have to go to court.

All extensions cost 1,900 Baht.

2.24 In the case of an alien

visiting a Thai spouse or child:

Permission

will be granted for a period of not more than 60 days at a time

(1) Proof of relationship.

(2) In the case of a spouse, their marital relationship shall be de

jure (legitimate) and de facto.

2.18 In the case of a family

member of a Thai(applicable only to parents, spouse, child, adopted child or child

of his/her spouse):

Permission will be

granted for a period of

not more than 1 year at a time.

(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (NON-IM)

(2) Proof of family relationship

(5) In the case of a parent, one of parents must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit of not less than 400,000 baht for expenses within a year.

Thanks for your reply.

How else do I proof I'm the Father, my name is on the Birth Certificate and have the receipt that states I paid for the birth.

When not married, you have to petition the court to be recognised as the legal father.

See: http://www.thaivisa....ts-as-a-father/

For 60 day extension the birth certificate is enough, for a 1 year extension immigration wants you to be the legal father.

Ok, My daughter is 15 months old, my girlfriend agrees to me being the legal father.

Sorry to be thick, what is the easiest way of doing it.

Many thanks.

Get a lawyer to write a request to the court to be recognised as the legal father. This will take a couple of months, but is very simple if your gf agrees that you are the father.

You don't need a very expensive lawyer, just one that can write the petition for you. So shop around a bit for the lawyer.
