[Myanmar] China Shares Burmese Monkey Species

Featured Replies

The endangered black snub-nosed monkey has been spotted by rangers on the Chinese side of the Sino-Burmese border, reports Earth Times. Burma published a paper in January 2011 to announce the discovery of this new monkey species, and now they have also been spotted on China’s side of the frontier. In the recent past, mainland orangs and Gigantopithecus were thought extinct. However, in isolated mountain valleys in rainforest, several unique species of primate, including five species of Rhyncopithecus, survive to this day. Chinese forest ranger Liu Pu made the discovery with a simple camera.
