TRANSPORT MINISTRY WILL TODAY CONCLUDE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE AT CATERING BUILDING IN NEW AIRPORT

The Ministry of Transport will today conclude the cause of the fire at Thai Airways' catering building in Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Deputy Transport Minister Phoomtham Wetchayachai (ภูมิธรรม เวชยชัย)m said 2 causes of the fire at the catering building have been established, including metal works that may have caused sparks, and smoking against the regulation by workers. Investigators have questioned 130 witnesses and the result will be yielded today. Mr. Phoomtham also affirmed the Suvarnabhumi Airport will open by the 1st of June this year.

Yesterday representatives of handicapped people met with Deputy Transport Minister Chaiyanand Charoensiri (ชัยอนันท์ เจริญศิริ) and requested improvements to facilities for handicapped people inside the airport. They also asked for a working committee staffed by people with expertise to be established for this matter.
