Rimmer
Alcohol sales banned Aug. 2-3 PATTAYA:--Back-to-back Buddhist holidays this week mean two dry days in Pattaya as bars, restaurants and entertainment venues are barred from selling alcohol. Asalaha Bucha Day, Aug. 2, and Khao Pansaa, or “Buddhist Lent,” Aug. 3, traditionally have been days when bars were requested to close. However, in 2009 the Prime Minister’s Office issued a no alcohol edict, banning the sale of alcohol on important religious holidays. The Notification of the Office of the Prime Minister RE: Determination of Days of Prohibition of Alcoholic Beverage Sales (No. 2) B.E. 2552 (A.D. 2009), signed by then Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, specifically prohibits the sale of alcohol on Makha Bucha Day, Visakha Bucha Day, Asalaha Bucha Day and Buddhist Lent holidays. Mobi
I was surprised to read in the full article (and elsewhere) that hotels are exempt from the ban. I don't drink these days, but I am curious; does this mean that anyone can go into a hotel and drink, or is it just for hotel residents?
Pattaya46
is it a news ?? A confirmation where is the problem ?? PoodMaiDai
Not even sure why they make news about this in Pattaya. The locals don't follow these rules, most just turn the music off, turn down the lights, and put the booze in holders.
Pattaya46
Hi. Nearly all bars were closed last night. A few small bars, with no direct access to the street, were open with no light and no music. Soi Buakhao was as dead as Walking Street. Places likes Pattaya Beer Garden were open too (make restaurant). There was Thai Box show as usual at the place under Marine Disco (near Pepermint agogo) but Japanese and Chinese customer only had orange juice or water It should be the same tonight, and the late opening of some agogo has been cancelled.
