"He says im 93 and shouldnt be treated like this",

Didnt consider his age when he was raping those kids ! What a waist of oxigen for 93 years

93 yrs old,prostate cancer,and he is rich.Alarm bells ringing.

Anyway if he was in Myanmar, and they put him in prison then they have to contact the Australian Embassy. If Thailand wants him back to Thailand, then they have to apply for extradition, that's how it should be.A lot of bad people here in Thailand, but I don't believe a 93 yr old guy with prostate cancer is able to rape anybody,I believe they wanted money and he did not pay

rape on children does not solely consist of intercourse

When it comes to predators of children "where there is smoke there is fire" Studies have shown (go find them yourself) that people with this habit generally can never stop being predators. Once they cross that line there is no going back, also most predators live in denial and do not think they are doing anything wrong and don't see the damage they do to children's development into adults. Desire is in the mind. Physical acts of the desires on innocent children are damaging to those kids end of story. Setup? Why? Is he wealthy? Is he a ass-wipe in the community? Complaining? Bashing Thais? If the story is true, there will always be other victims that know who this guy is. Will they come forward? If he is a molester at his age these young girls would not be his first victims.

well the police do say they have more than a 100 pictures seized from him with naked kiddies on them and him posing, and lets face it Thai police are not exactly famous for wanting to overwork so the ver fact they bothered to chase him at all indicates something I would guess..... but yes of course give him a fair trail before putting him out of his misery or not.

Reading closely, it says the police have pictures of naked children.

Not hard to find for the police, found right on their evidence computers.

Secondly it says pictures of him posing with children,

But it does not say 'he is posing with naked children'.

One of the points made earlier is the charging officer was a 'friend of the girls father',

So if we rule out colusion then he is guilty, maybe, but TIT, can't rule out colusion.

If he is guilty and no dementia, then no sympathy at all.

But this story never fit the typical pedo busted in LOS, scenarios.

The 90's is a little old to start molesting children. Unless he has a history of child sexual abuse, he could have medical/psychological problems contributing to his current situation. He needs a thorough evaluation before the case is disposed of.

People suffering from dementia are known to undergo behavioral and psychological changes.

Not an excuse....just saying.

Given his circumstances he might fit in well in pattaya.......

I am Australian yet I have ZERO sympathy for this man.

You never heard of the principle of "innocent until proven guilty" and whilst rape is an indictable offence there is no suggestion that the alleged perp was engaged in pedophilia.

Obviously dependant on guilty or innocent, but regardless, a 93yo legging it across the border into a wild frontier and holding up in a run down hotel...credit where credit is due, not too many 60yo's that could do that.

Yeah, you are right, but still somethings smells fishy about the whole story,if the police has clear evidence then why he is not in thai prison long time ago already? And I just can't imagine a 93 yr old guy with prostate cancer still hv naughty thoughts to do shit like that, also if he stays here long time then I guess he would know how to come out of that situation[money talks]but he seems to be stubborn, and don't want to pay any single baht for something he did not do,just a thought

From various news sources ....

Cops found video footage and 100 photographs of naked children

Some photos showed the elderly man posing naked with other children, and police are trying to identify them and contact their families,

many of the pictures were emailed overseas.

"He would lure them into his house with sweets, usually chocolate from aboard or luxury sweets, and he would ask them to perform sexual acts with him," Kritapol said. "For the eldest of the four sisters, he recently gave her 4,000 baht instead of sweets."

Neighbours described Kraus as an active 90-year-old who still drove his own car, police said. But when police arrested him he acted weak, walked with a cane and complained of diabetes and high blood pressure ... as well as making court appearances in a wheelchair

"Despite his age he still seems to have the desire, although we don't know whether he could act on it," Prawit said. "But under Thai law any form of penetration is considered rape."

Fled illegally to Burma to avoid trial

Born in Germany in 1920's, then fled to Australia after the war. I wonder if the Simon Wiesenthal centre are interested in speaking to him as well.

When I read his name I wondered if it was a typo, that he is Austrian not Australian. Now I understand.

He said in the first article that the kids always came to his house accompanied by their parents and that the father tried to blackmail him..... Although personally I think that's a little bit too much of a serious claim to make falsely to the police

Hopefully he gets a fair trial, after which if he's guilty he can spend what remains of his life behind bars, or will be released if found innocent.

although at 93 he might not last long in remand (since he won't get bail again after attempting to flee), and so even if innocent he might spend the rest of his days behind bars

Seems to me there was a long period of time between the alleged happenings and the time he was charged. Could lend some truth to the bribery attempt.

It should be dealt with immediately there has been plenty of time to investigate the case and if he is innocent the sooner he is released the better at his age.

Also if dementia has set in try to get in contact with some of his relatives.

peadophile departments from the west should send officers here - which would check the population regarding their compliance, when making (fake)-inquiries about available children... and then punish the parents/relatives...

this would be a measure to help..

why dont they do this here?

Seems like I remember this story. Was there not some issue of frame up. I think pedophiles should burn and get castrated, but there was something peculiar about this case if who I think it is besides the fact he is 93, impotent, senile and had money.

OMG framed in Thailand? Surely not. You can't be serious. @93 what are the odds of him raping anyone. In fact getting it up would take more energy than any 93 year old I ever met could muster.

I suppose we will go through the usual Judge & Jury of TV with executions and noting etc., but the likelihood of this being a real, actual, committed offense are infinitesimal. Sadly you all know it.

You discussed erectile performance with 93 year olds ?. rolleyes.gif

its really somewhat weird, that of all pedophiles here, they (first of all) have to drag this 90something parkinson patient with lots of money into the public...

the first report (threat here) spoke about pedo-stuff on his computer, which was sent to other countries, too...

the second report (also on some other threat), spoke about "pornographic" material - no word about pedo (anymore)...

if he sent pedo-material to other countries, then they have to name these countries and to inform the authorities there...

was this done?

Not to mention that he hasn't been tried and convicted of anything.

Actually Sateev, he has been tried in the Court of Thaivisa. Also found guilty and sentenced. Thankfully here we are all invisible so we can say what we want and we are never held responsible... His life ends, we carry on and wait for our next victim.

He was found guilty and sentenced in the Court of Thaivisa. Then they decided to look at some of the details.

There are a lot of 'ivory towers' on Thai Visa. Probably the same 'characters' who think its acceptable to breed with a (semi-retarded) 20 yr old bar girl and then go and take their young offspring to a pub/ bar on an evening to 'show off'. bah.gifsick.gif

Certainly not condoning this guy , but can we not show decency and await details/ sentencing?

Just a passing thought. Old man, cash on the hip, alone, has dementia, falls into the clasps of a thieving bar girl. He skips town so she speaks to cousin somchai to try and get him back thinking that he would pay toi stay out of prison.

If he did it,he is scum. However, i don't believe a word the MIB say, or in fact most Thai people. So not quite as open / shut as most people think.

Anybody can put something on your puter these days very quickly with a little thumdrive.

Real proof required.

If he has no history of it and his age, something fishy

Hypersexuality in dementia patients is very well documented. If no prior history this would seem highly likely.

One would hope that the first thing they do is test the man for dementia (and if positive - which at his age is almost certain), then get him out of this horrific situation.

It may be well documented in some patients, but it was not documented in this case. There is only the accusation and no corroborating evidence.

It is easy to accuse an old man and then to bully him.

Aussie man to face pedophile charges

A 93-year-old Australian man facing pedophile charges in northern Thailand had planned well in advance to flee to Burma, including withdrawing funds from his bank account, legal sources said. West Australian Karl Joseph Kraus, arrested on July 24 by Burmese officials in the city of Pa-an, the capital of Karen state, has a scheduled court appearance in Chiang Mai on Monday.

'It was a scheduled (court appearance) but things must have changed now that he has jumped bail,' legal sources told AAP. They said Kraus had been planning for some time to flee Thailand, having taken steps to access his bank account. Officials said Kraus had been living in rented accommodation for a month before Burmese officials doing a check of his documentation found he had entered Burma illegally.

But late on Sunday Kraus's whereabouts were uncertain after his arrest and being deported back to Thailand last Friday. Kraus was arrested in June 2010 and faces charges of sexual assault on four young sisters near his residence on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. Kraus had been teaching English to the village girls, one as young as five, when the alleged abuses began and continued over almost two years.

During earlier detentions prior to being granted bail authorities had held Kraus at a local hospital rather than in a prison cell.
