Today my salt chlorinator started working again, masses of bubbles and a reading in the green (normal) zone.

This was after the following events.

A sample test gave the following readings:

Total Chlorine 0.0 Ideal 2.0

Free Chlorine 0.0 Ideal 2.0

ph 7.2 Ideal 7.2

Total Alkalinity 50 Ideal 7.2

Calcium Hardness 100 Ideal 200

Stabiliser 0 Ideal 70

Salt 5500 Ideal 3500

Shock Treatment 0.0 Ideal 1.0

1.5 litres of liquid Chlorine was added to the pool - no change.

Four days later 500 litres of top up water was added.

The following day the salt chlorinator is now working again.

Are salt chlorinators sensitive to the water they have to react with, to the degree that they will actually stop working if the conditions are not correct?

is the salt level of the pool sufficient?

Are the plates in the chlorinator thickly coated with calcium? Clean with acid solution...

Lots of info ...google..!
