90 Days: "Grace" Period At Airport

Featured Replies

I usually do my 90 days reporting by post to Chaengwattana and haven't had any problems so far as I've always sent it in 15 days before expiry as requested.

I plan to go on holidays out of the country soon and my 90 days will expire 5 days before I exit Thailand. What I'd like to know is, does the +/- 7 days window apply at the airport or must I report (by post or in person) 5 days before I leave?

Thanks to all.

JD

The Immigration at the Airport know nothing about 90 day reporting, just remove the 90 day reporting slip from your passport, then upon return, counting that as day 1, report to your local office at the 90th day.

Thanx Beano. But will there be any "repercussions" when I do my next 90 days on returning?

No.

As said, nothing to do with the airport.

It would appear that the op would have spent more than 90 days in Thailand before he departs, therefore a report is required, the 7 day 'grace' period is only for making the report , it's not less than 97 days in Thailand. The next time a 90 day report is made Immigration may pick up on the fact that a report was missed and levy a fine of 2000.

Personally would send in a normal 90 day report by post 15 days before due date and all is covered at minimal cost.

Of course, stand to be corrected by the experts.

Per above, the grace period is for reporting only. Since you stay longer then 90 days you have to report.

On next 90 day report you most likely will be fined 2,000 baht for failure to report prior to leaving as you will not have made the previous report and exit was after the due date and they will see that on computer. The extra 7 days is for actual in person reporting - the report period is 90 days and you will have stayed longer than that without making a report.

So, basically I should report on the 90 days (15 days earlier by post) and then leave the country 5 days later?

Yes.

Correct.
