Visa On Arrival/Reentry?

Featured Replies

hi. i am british citizen. travelling to thailand in january and planning on going to vietnam or malaysia for about 10 days before going back to thailand then returning home. All within 21 days.

Could anyone please advise on what visa will be needed and how to go about things?

Help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Most usually obtain a Visa exemption on arrival, which is valid for 30 days.

It's a stamp in your passport that you get when you front Immigration at the Airport, looks like a Visa, smells like a Visa ... but is simple a 'waiving of the need to obtain a Visa' ... or, more commonly know as a 'Visa exemption'. No fee is payable for this.

You didn't say anything about your return to Thailand? If you are simply flying in, though the passenger transit lounge, then onto your next flight then you don't officially enter Thailand again.

If however, you return to Thailand (go through Thai Immigration) for a few hours, days or even a week or two, you will simply get another Visa exemption on arrival, again for 30 days, assuming that you flew in.

ah right. thanks very much. i'm familiar with the immigration on the 30 day visa. just wasn't sure if they'd grant another 30 days by flight so soon. was aware of the 15 days extra by land. flying to bangkok. for 3/4 nights then 5/10 nights in vietnam i think then return to thailand for another week or so.

so no probs on granting the 30 day waiver so soon after previous travel?

No problem - so no visa needed for Thailand or Malaysia.

You will however need a visa to enter Vietnam in case you didn't know. You can apply online in advance with some research.
