Found these guys. Theyre called Scoot. Check em out and tell me if they arent the cheapest youve ever seen. Flyscoot.com Australia to Bangkok $250.

Just checked their site.

SYD/BKK - 33hours, BKK/SYD- 13 hours - AUD505.00/return with no bags, AUD570.00/return with bags.

This was travelling September, maybe cheaper other dates.

Keep watching Air Asia, often much cheaper.

I did Air Asia UBP/BKK/KUL/SYD return/two adults(air fare & taxes) - AUD650.00 with good connections.

If you are flexible with dates, keep checking all their sites.

This is kind of old news, but it is good competition for Air Asia and ScabStar.

It is good that they operate out of terminal two in Singapore and you don't have to deal with the Tiger budget terminal, in my opinion Singapore airport is the best airport in the world to go and kill time for one of these connections at the moment is ridiculous, but I understand that they cannot make everybody happy. Just be careful booking on jet Star they seem to 10 to cancel a lot more flights and other airlines and the pricks don't even tell you until you get to the airport. I presume once they get closer to their fleet of 16 B777 they should have some good connections to Bangkok.

Lots of information about this airline for people between Gold Coast in Bangkok in Sydney in Bangkok below:

Scoot is Singapore Airlines low cost carrier and they are buying up SQ's old fleet of 777's and re-configuring them to increase their route. I understand it is not as much the cattle-car experience as Air Asia and they do offer a Business Class of sorts, although it is not a true long haul standard.

Just something I came acroos, dont shoot me down. I only fly Singapore Air. They are the best, theres no better. Ive never heard of scoot until now so perhaps its something someone may be interested in.....just saying.

Kris, I like SQ as well, depending on the route you want to fly Cathay Pacific is sometimes the better option than SQ. Actually from my information I believe the biggest seats on air Asia to be closer to business class and scoot, but don't get me wrong I'm happy scoot is in the marketplace as well.

If that is one way it is not really cheap.

Don't they have a long stop in Singapore?

Ok then smarty, find cheaper than 250 for us all then 1 way. Thats your challenge. Falang maidai.

I was not trying to be a smart arse, just making a comment.

You stated that AUD250.00 was the best fare you have ever seen., you obviously don't look very often as there are much cheaper fares available at different times of the year.

Refer my post #4 and link

You did not mention if it was one way or return you were quoting, or the departure port in Oz.

There possibly is not a cheaper fare today, hang around a little longer and there will be.

If you are not flexible with your dates then you are obviously stuck with the current fare when you book, if you are flexible it Is your good fortune to get the best deals.

Personally, I would not do a thirty three hour trip for AUD250.00, I would think about it for AUD100.00.

Happy hunting.

one way tickets are never cheap, in fact they are usually only slightly cheaper then round trip, the return segment of which can be extended out 12 months and changed for a small fee.

Jack, someone has been overcharging you. My experience in Asia is that most roundtrip fares are exactly equal to the two one-way fares. I almost never buy a RT ticket.

I wouldn't recomment Scoot at all. I flew out of the Gold Coast, Australia, and the flight was delayed by 6 hours, making it a very long day.

People were frantically trying to re-book their connecting flights in Singapore, and all we got was an apology. Though after complaining bitterly that I had missed my connecting flight, I was offered a $50 voucher towards a Scoot flight.... to be utilised by the end of the year. blink.png

I think the problem is that they use old planes that were previously used by Singapore Airlines, so they're more likely to have technical problems causing delays.
