Featured Replies

Anyone know what the group of buildings by the side of sukimvit road near the petrol station are? Ive been told its something to do with a wealthy thai chicken farmer is it his seaside place or what! There is a large statue of a chicken in the garden! The whole place looks like a giant blue and white wedding cake, whats inside the buldings anyone know?

I've heard that also. its his home i believe but visitors can go in i think. :o

The place is called the Sukawasdee Mansions and is owned by Dr. Panya who apparently made loads of money during the late 90's.

That's right, it belongs to one of Thailands if not the worlds largest chicked producers. It's just a show-off piece. You can go and see it but .. it's like someone saw some nice castles in Europe and tried to make a Thai copy .. it's right but somehow it still looks fake.

It's owned by the boss of C.P. foods.........which I think stands for Chicken Products. They also have a massive grain mill on the 24 just outside Chock Chai

If only Bernard Matthews had chosen Chickens instead of Turkey's, he could have had a house like that too :D Although he hasn't done too bad :o

One of our beloved PM's close mates. CP is having problems flogginghis birds to the EU due to an annoying little problem called Avian Flu so he & PM have hatched up a scheme to barter CP chickens to Russia in exchange for Russian fighter jets that are too big, too fast and without spares or and maintenace contracts which no one can fly as they've been trained on US F6's. The air force Chief came out dead against the deal until PM threatened to make him'inactive' so now he's right behind the great 'chickens for planes' scam. You couldn't make it up! Mayber CP will will build another palace to store all the broken down SU - whatevers.

It's free to go in and look around although on both occasions I've been the buildings have been closed to the public due to being readied for a formal function. I have seen photos of the inside and I suppose it's a "Thai style - Stately Home" LOL. The gardens run all the way down to the beach. Well worth a visit if you've nothing better to do. :o:D

This one is is indeed from a big chicken producer, put it is not the CP group from what I know. They sell chicken products and also cosmetics ("Airis Sophia", not made from chicken) in an MLM scheme and the big hall serves as a function facility for their gatherings.

Actually it's Sweden they are doing the deal with for the JAS39 Grippen, which is loosly based on the Euro-fighter. I did some work on it while at SAAB................but as Thais have trouble driving cars...........well

Sorry, It's definitely Russian SU 30's. Putin himself is involved in the deal, and I don't think he'd be selling Saabs. If you still don't believe me, here's a clipping from Bangkok Post 2 days ago:

'Chalit about-face over Russian jets

In an about-face, air force chief ACM Chalit Pukpasuk has come out in favour of buying SU-30 fighter jets, following rumours that he would be replaced if he failed to endorse the Russian-made aircraft.'

There was some deal with Saabs, but from emeory that was quite a while back. This deal is happening now - and its a bloody disgrace - but as my good friend hkeeps telling me: TIT

For all the ones who think what the heck we're talking about, i found some pics on the net.

I believe when they started they had the land enroaching problem (beach) where they had planted some trees, and guarded of the beach, but i think the resolved the problem thai style. :o
