Burma said it is ready to resume talks aimed at resolving longstanding border disputes with Thailand, according to a report by The Bangkok Post. Speaking at a seminar on Thai-Burmese relations at Mae Fah Luang University in Chiang Rai Province, Vasin Teeravechyan, the co-chairman of the Thai-Burmese Joint Boundary Committee (JBC), said that discussions between the two sides would take place in October after a seven-year hiatus. Vasin said a key issue to be raised would be ongoing conflicts along the Moei River, which forms part of the 2,400 km border between the two countries.
