Building Project Behind Holiday Inn

Featured Replies

Took a short cut the other day down a service lane (next to Ibis hotel)between 2nd Rd and Beach Rd (walking) and noticed a huge construction going on behind the Holiday Inn. I asked one of the hotel workers but he didn't seem to know. Does anyone have an idea?

There are signs on the protective wall around the site declaring that it will be "The Pennsylvania Hotel, Pattaya". Googling those words brought up nothing, and what has Pattaya to do with Pennsylvania, anyway? I'm a bit worried, because my condo (on the 22nd floor) overlooks the site, I don't know how many floors the hotel will be and whether it will obstruct my view.

I heard that it was another Holiday Inn (second building) as they are apparantly almost alwyas full.

I can confirm that - it will be a 2nd tower of Holiday Inn Pattaya with app. 20 floors

Is it possible that a hotel bubble is underway ?

I just read a report that said tourism to Pattaya is doing very well, with a large increase of tourists over the past several years. The next wave will be Chinese, according to the report.

Also saw another one that said SE Asia, overall, has around a 6-8% yearly increase in tourism planned for the next 3-5 years. Pretty good growth.
