90 Day Reporting...does It "reset" When Retirement Extension Renewed?

Featured Replies

rolleyes.gif Currently I have a retirement extension of my original Non O visa until 15 October 2012.

Obviously that needs to be renewed for another year in October.

My next 90 day report is due for 6 November 2012.

When I do renew my retirement extension(visa) by 15 October what happens to my 90 day reporting schedule?

Does the 90 day reporting "clock" reset on 15 October....so my next reporting would be due in January 2013?

Or does my 90 day reporting schedule stay the same....which means my first 90 day report after renewing my retirement visa would be due in February 2013?

I would assume a new extension starts a new 90 day reporting cycle....but after all This Is Thailand.

Renewal of extension of stay doesn't automatically reset your 90 day report unless you physically do the 90 day report at the same time to avoid another trip to imigration, unless you report by mail.

I believe the the first extension you do counts as a 90 day report, subsequent ones do not. Therefore after your extension by 15 Oct your next 90 day report date would be 6 Nov 2012 (-14/+7 days).

Edit....Of course different may do things another way, as you say This is Thailand.

A new extension does not start a new 90 day cycle. You must do 90 day report when scheduled unless the office specifically allows you to do early as a local service. The national requirement is 15 days before until 7 days after for reporting in person.

Why would it count as a 90 day report extension is a totally different process than 90 day report with different forms and a different desk that has to be visited, please do not hand out incorrect info here. When I got my first extension of stay I also filled in the forms and did my 90 day report as it was due in 2 weeks and they allowed me to do that as it was approaching. The officers reply was no need to come back in 2 weeks

The first extension of stay always counts as the first 90 day address report and this is clearly stated on Immigration website for all to read. Notification of staying over 90 days

http://www.immigration.go.th/

The first application for extension of stay by the foreigner is equivalent to the notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days.

If I have an O visa and I have just gotten my first one year extension based on retirement, the 90 day clock gets reset. But what if I had an O-A visa and get my first extension? Will the clock be reset in that case? It's my first extension but it is not my first one year permission to stay. Just thinking that this might explain the first-hand report above.

Technically the O-A is your first extension of stay as the "A" stands for "Approved" extension of stay and you get the one year on entry. So one would think extension from that would not count as 90 day report but as it is the first time immigration has seen you for actual extension not sure how it would be handled - but if already doing 90 day reports I would continue as per current schedule.

I have not posted incorrect info. The first extension does count as a 90 day report, however I did qualify that statement (although I missed a word out) it should have read "Of course different offices may do things another way, as you say This is Thailand".

Nakon Sawan Immigration has reset my 90day reporting date on my last two retirement extensions!thumbsup.gif
