What's The Advantage Of Holding A Double Entry (6 Month) Visa Of The Type You Can Get In Vientiane,

Featured Replies

What's the advantage of holding a double entry (6 month) visa of the type you can get in Vientiane, compared to the single entry visa you can get in Penang?

Comparison please, if possible : )

I would like to stay in Thailand as long as possible.

A friendly woman in a visa run shop told me with the 6 month visa I will have to go out of Thailand once after 2 months, is that correct?

I have already had 1 tourist visa (60 days), which I have extended once (30 days).

Now I'm looking into going either to Penang to get a single entry visa or to Vientiane to get a double entry (6 month visa).

Word of advice : )?

It is the difference between one and two. To get second entry you would just need to spend 10 minutes exit/entry of country at a border - to obtain a new visa for a second entry would require arrival at a Consulate in morning - submission of visa request - pick up next afternoon (or later) and then return.

No, that is not strictly correct. You only have to leave Thailand, briefly, after the first 90 days. This is how you do it:

At the end of the first 60 days go to immigration and extend for another 30 days @ 1900 bht, just like you did with your single-entry tourist visa.

At the end of that 30 days you do have to leave the country, for a visa run to your closest neighbouring country.

Come back into Thailand the same day and that activates the second tourist visa, which gives you another 60 days plus 30 at immigration again.

After that it's off to another embassy somewhere for another tourist visa. Repeat as required but beware of 'red stamp in passport' syndrome.

Ok. One guy just told me in another forum that it is actually possible to get a double entry visa in Penang. Can anyone confirm that? (Already have one 60 + 30 visa in the passport)

Hi

Please keep your visa questions in one thread only thanks, posting the same question in multiple threads is counter productive.
