Thai version of 'Viagra' to be launched next month

BANGKOK: -- The Government Pharmaceutical Organisation will launch its erectile dysfunction drug "Sidagra" on October 15 at a fraction of the price of Viagra.

The treatment for the men's disorder has already been registered with the Food and Drug Administration.

Viagra sells for about Bt200 per tablet but Sidagra will cost only Bt25 per 50-milligram tablet and Bt45 per 100mg dose, Dr Witit Artavatkul, managing director of the GPO, said yesterday.

Sales of the inexpensive product would help stem the outbreak of fake medicine, give hope to people with no access to expensive remedies and address the growing needs of the ageing society, he said.

This drug would be popular, he said.

The GPO has also improved and expanded its facilities to meet the PICS standard and raise capacity to five billion tablets in preparation for the Asean Economic Community.

The state enterprise under the Public Health Ministry was eyeing the market for diabetes, high-blood pressure and HIV/Aids medications in Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Malaysia.

Pornthep Siriwanarangsan, director-general of the Disease Control Department, also warned the public about dengue fever during this rainy season, as 38,500 cases and 42 deaths have already been reported from January 1-September 4.

Last week alone, five people died from this disease, he said.

interesting name Sidagra although I think I would have gone for Thaiagra, it has a much better ring to it!

"Don't forget to tell Sid !", for those who remember the advertising-campaign ? rolleyes.gif

But what's wrong with the imported Indian-version , 'Kamagra' ? wink.png

No doubt P.M.Yingluck will call for a general erection. That will be pretty hard-on the Democrats.

BTW I believe the correct name of the new version is "Silagra" possibly from it's containing sildenafil?

This is good news for the sex tourists

The fat old farangs who visit pattaya will now have more

money to pay for bar fines and girl drinks on walking street

Ahem...

I wonder if the amount of questions will go up in Pattaya... You know, more poles being conducted? rolleyes.gif

Forget about exporting that to Spanish speaking countries ... blink.png

So will this be over the counter or through docs only?

Ah... finally something that will support Thailand real economy.

Seems like a boner move, priorities please.

"The Thai version." Stay away, run as fast as you can, faster if possible. Anything prefaced with "the Thai version" is also a euphemism for "at your own substantial risk."

Despite its expected popularity, I'm glad nobody added the quite confusing adjective super yet.

I would think the way the government treats the people they would not need any more of it. I guess the cost, got so high they had two come up with a cheaper version.

I would imagine they will have two manufacturing plants to keep up with the demand. One for sale to the general public and one to help them keep on hosing the public.

I can't believe I'm the first one with this; "Thailand, the hub of hard-ons".

In a country where rape is a crime so common that it's hardly ever noticed and not often punished, this seems like a strange priority, unless it is to boost sex tourism.

Maybe that airline should change their slogan from "Smooth as silk" to "Hard as a rock" cheesy.gif

Thaigra would sound even better....Has a little bit the sound of Tiger...

Out in one of my favourite bars last night. Instead of people wanting to take my photo, sell me flowers and innumerable trinkets, for the first time ever I was offered some little blue diamond shaped pills. All carried in a small box with a lid. On enquiring about the price I hear 500 Baht for 4. That is a big mark-up on the 80 Baht for 4 you can buy them for over the border.

This new Thai version is going to put a huge dent in their profits that's for sure.

Perhaps political-leaders may now find it easier to become hardened-criminals, even better at cock-ups, and those in the legal-profession may hand-out stiffer sentences, in future ? whistling.gif

Hope everyone has heart attack insurance.

A question only of academic interest ofcourse ?? wub.png Don't be shy JT, join the rest of the non-profilic members in the pharmacy.

I may be old but I'm not fat.

I seem to remember hearing on here a few months ago that sales of viagra to farang were being banned asa it wasn't good for our health. It was quite obviously not concern for our general well being after all then hahahaha...

Nothing wrong with Kamagra. The only problem with the Thai made low cost product is that the Crooks (cops included) will lose their income LOL

Oh, shut up with your tired and inaccurate stereotypes. At least half of the sex tourists in Thailand are in their 20s, have washboard abs, and could kick the shit out of an old fart like you with one hand tied behind their back. Deal with it.

As a more astute observation, how fitting that the horniest nation on earth would develop their own brand of Viagra, haha (and I'm not talking about the foreigners, or even just the Thai males...!!)

Will this new generic Thai version be legal without a prescription?

Can I get a discount if I order a tonne

Forget viagra, cialis, cumagra, and all that toxic junk. Have you tried bali mojo, or mojo risen? Bali Mojo is available online, here in Thailand. Costs about 100 baht per capsule, which lasts 2 days, with zero side effects, and no damage to the kidneys and liver. All herbal. I love the stuff. Many of my friends use it, and never go back to the pharmaceutical junk. Much easier on the body. And super effective. Let's say no to Big Pharma. What have they done for us lately?

What a cock up!
