1-2call

Thanks

I have exactly the same problem. My property is surrounded by hills and mountains effectively cutting off the signal from the cell towers.

Here is a link to my original posting. http://www.thaivisa....r-gsm-repeater/

If it's only telephony you need and no data connection, you can use a GSM repeater like this one here http://www.hispeedai...&repeater.html.

Note that there are different repeaters for different GSM bands, i.e. 12Call uses 900MHz band and DTAC 850MHz. There are dual band repeaters, but I haven't been able to locate any on the Thai market. I have ordered some other stuff from this company and can recommend them. Once they receive payment, I had my order within 3 days by EMS.

Installing the repeater allows me now to use my mobile from inside the house, which was almost impossible in the past. The phone will show full 4 bars signal, but don't get fooled by that. This is the signal strength to the repeater, which would be located only a couple of meters from you, and not to the cell network.

If you need Internet connection, it gets little more complicated. I have a BigPond 3G router and experimenting with a 12 element Yagi antenna, with varying results. I'm using True_H 3G and had download speeds up to 2Mbps, but normally it is much lower. It is still at experimental stage, but I think I can get better and more stable results with 2 antennas and careful positioning.
