MrZM Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Can somebody please tell me the name of the British consul in Bangkok! I want to know the man or woman name it would be very helpful! I have a slight problem and I need to speak to the consul, the only person who has the authority, in Thailand for british citizens! Thank you in advance
7by7 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Do you mean a consulate? Choose the one nearest your location from this page. Or do you mean the British Ambassador? If so; his name is Mark Kent. But I doubt he will see you personally, certainly initially; so try the link appropriate to your enquiry on the embassy's contact page. But, if your enquiry is about your wife's recent visa refusal and the bad advice you received from an agent, I'm afraid that they wont be able to help you. Visas are a UKBA matter, not a consular one and neither the UKBA nor the embassy have any control over visa agents operating in Thailand; even if the agent concerned is a British citizen.

I am not petty and have no intention of complaining about an agent. That is forgotten already, I have to concentrate on my family! If in any chance possible I could talk to him, I would be grateful for the conversation. As he is the British ambassador for Thailand he will have a presence on all areas. Thank you for your help. I don't know how you find the time, to reply to do many people. I'm sure everyone appreciates it.

MrZM Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 Thanks for your comment, I was replying to 7x7. Forgot to send him a private message.

If you contact him by email you will eventually get a reply, though it will be very vague, it may be sent in the name of The Ambassador but it will be drafted and sent by one of his team, I doubt if he will even see your email. There are Honorary Consuls in Chiang Mai and Pattaya, but they will not get involved either. theoldgit
Payboy Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 You can always catch him at the next Ploenchit fair.
cmsally Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/countries/thailand/refusals/?langname=UK%20English There is an appeal process here if its for visa refusal. But like most things mired in so much administration the process is probably tortuous. As said it seems the embassy has not much control now over passports and visas.
Popular Post theblether Posted September 7, 2012 Popular Post Posted September 7, 2012 UK ambassadors are in place to promote trade and to represent the government. They are not here to respond to the British ex-pat community. They have staff in place to deal with the daily travails of ex-pat life and tourist problems, however keep in mind that the Embassy is not your local social work department. I read your thread on the visa forum mrZM, and I get the impression that you're the type of guy that just won't listen........you were told by two professional visa companies and by 7x7 that you were destined to fail.....and yet your last word was you were going to apply against their advice anyway. Go have a long talk to yourself and try to re-connect with the inner mature you. 3
Morakot Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 It is my pleasure to inform you that His Excellency the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Kingdom of Thailand, Mark Andrew Geoffrey Kent will receive you forthwith. 1

MrZM Posted September 7, 2012 Author Posted September 7, 2012 Well things have changed in the last 10 years! A friend of mine gave me the advice. He did the same thing 10 years ago, when everything was actually done in the embassy. His wife vids was refused, he then called the consul ambassador, and they spoke over the phone, she/he at the time requested the couple to come to the embassy, provide more documents and the visa decision was overturned!
theoldgit Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Yes things have changed, in your friends time the Visa Section was managed by FCO staff who are Consular staff in another guise, they probably had a better avenue of communication with the Ambassador who, whilst would not actually overturn decisions could be more persuasive. Now the ECM's are UKBA staff and line managed by UKBA senior managers. 2 theoldgit
LeCharivari Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 ..... There are Honorary Consuls in Chiang Mai and Pattaya ..... Not so sure if there is an Honorary Consul in Pattaya - the new Vice Consul and Consular Officer both resigned in mid-July after taking up their posts in January, and do not appear to have been replaced yet. According to the Embassy website the Pattaya Consulate is still only open on Wednesdays and Thursdays so I presume its being manned by staff from Bangkok, as it was last year after the previous Honorary Consul and Consular Officer resigned. There are Honorary Consuls in Phuket and Koh Samui, though (but no Consulates). http://andrew-drummond.com/2012/07/22/catch-us-if-you-can-another-british-consul-resigns/ http://www.thaivisa....perating-hours/ http://ukinthailand....ations/pattaya/
