I applied for my extension of stay (due to working) about 6 weeks ago, and had a stamp saying I must return on 8th (tomorrow) to find out the decision. Immigration not open tomorrow so we went today and they said it is not ready, and will be ready on Monday. They then refused to give me a stamp to say it was still under consideration. So after tomorrow I will have no visa.

It seemed weird that there was a 6 week consideration period (normally 4) to start with. What are the implications of my visa 'running out' like this? Will it affect my new extension and WP? Will I have potential problems in the future due to the visa expiring?

I have also had to postpone an overseas business trip as I was flying on Sunday, but more concerned about the points mentioned above.

Thanks.

It is normal that it is ready on or after the date specified and any business with immigration that involves a weekend or holiday can be done on next workday without any adverse effect so you will be OK to do on Monday.

Well to save my business trip on Sunday, we managed to get it issued today, after much to-ing and fro-ing, for an 'incentive' of 10,000 THB.

My company paid, but still p1sses me off as all along they said it would be ready today angry.png

Actually you said in post one you were told it would be ready Saturday which would actually be next workday and not today.

Yes but they said all along that I should go on Friday.

Apparently we paid 10,000 for one of my staff a few months ago as he was not available on the "appear on this date" day. It seems they now think my company is a soft touch and will find a way to extort money every time.

I like corruption when it works in your favour, but this such ass wink.png

QED, what immigration office was this?

This was Maptaphut, Rayong, but they said they were waiting for some boss in BKK to sign it off

I wish to make it clear that I have NEVER EVER been expected to cough up any backhanders in my dealings to date with Maptaput on retirement extensions, 90-day reports or re-entry permits. However the plain fact of the matter is that, like it or not, money speaks volumes here in LOS. And, being the cynic that I am, it would not surprise me in the slightest to learn that most - if not all - immigration offices insist on the payment of similar (if not considerably higher) backhanders for the expedition of extension of stay applications in situations as described by the OP.

same been dealing with on and off for must be 8 years and never been a sniff of bungs and they seem to be a very professional outfit as goverment departments go and on one specific occassion they could have taken money off me for 90 day report being late and let it go

Agree 100% with Soutpeel about Maptaput's professionalism based on my past 3 years of dealing with them, They seem to know what they are doing unlike their counterparts at BKK where I have initially been wrongly stamped in on 2 out of the 4 occasions I've entered LOS from abroad since moving out here (true the IO's corrected their mistakes without any ado in either case, but I would have been happier if they had got the date right in the first place). Also, Maptaput seem to play strictly by the book - i,e, they don't "invent" silly rules locally aimed solely at causing the maximum inconvenience and hassle as Jomtien do, for example, in requiring passport copies and even address evidence for each and every 90-day report.

Same happened to me today in Pattaya! Went back and they said come back on Thursday.

Don't worry about the stamp she said.

But did she suggest that the wheels might be oiled on payment of a suitable backhander as in the OP's case? If so, would be most interested to learn what the going rate at Jomtien is!
