MR. PONGSAK ASSIGNS 'ART' TO REVISE ITS PLAN ON PURCHASE OF CCTV

Transport Minister PONGSAK RAKTAPONGPAISAL (พงษ์ศักดิ์ รักตพงศ์ไพศาล) has ordered Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (ART) to revise its plan on purchasing security cameras to install in transport stations nationwide so as to increase the security within the units. He said the budget set to purchase the cameras were within its limit. The final proposal will be given to Mr Pongsal within one week.

Every transport units were called for to attend the meeting where Mr. PONGSAK has assigned the units to rework its camera (CCTV) procurement to upgrade the security in the country’s transport stations. Initially, the proposal presented was that ART will purchase 1716 of CCTV under the budget of 770 million baht. However, the Transport Ministry claimed that it was over budgeted. The ministry suggested the unit to consider through the camera equipment’s quality on linking with its system.

However, he said that the amount of CCTV which are about to be installed will not include the number of CCTV installed in Suvarnabhumi Airport and MRT stations.
