yes medicals for 6 months and over nothing to confusing

I would argue the EXACT opposite, seeing as NO ONE else has posted that requirement and 100% certain we were not asked to do anything except fil in a form, mail it and they returned her passport with a 12 mth multi.... kinda makes what you say sound like [snip]...unless many others are also CONFUSED,....

Sadly supaprik, Elwood62 is spot in with that info.

From the Aust. govt. Immigration website there is specific information pertaining to this.

Health examinations required for temporary and permanent visa applicants

Higher risk

This includes, but is not limited to:

C
hina,
I
ndia, Indonesia,
M
alaysia,
P
akistan, Philippines,
R
ussia,
S
outh Africa, South Korea,
T
hailand and
V
iet Nam.

Visa Condition:- You must undergo a chest x-ray^
if staying in Australia for more than 3 months.

^ Where a chest x-ray is required, this applies to applicants aged 11 years or more. Children under 11 years of age are required to complete a medical examination instead of a chest x-ray.

From

So those who receive a 12 month multi entry don't have to worry about the X-Ray requirement because they must depart Australia after 3 months. They can then re-enter Australia after a brief absence and could technically stay almost 12 months (15 months if they time it right) without an X-Ray ... but if they want to stay in Australia continuously for a period longer then 3 months (i.e. the 6 month Visa) then an X-Ray is required.

Seems confusing, but that's how the system works ...

EDIT:- crocken supplied the original posting information.

Any visitor to Aus that is staying for longer than three months in one trip requires a medical, croken's visa was for 6month's not multi entry.

The reason there is no medical required for the 12month multi is that the applicant is only staying for 3month's in one trip,

Hope this has cleared up the confusion.

My partner was also required to get a medical when she applied for a 6month visa. They also rang her and offered her an option to take a 3month visa.

She opted to do the medical and a 6month visa was granted.

A bit of advice if anyone is having the medical done,

For the ladies they will have to wait 5days after thier period,

My wife has two daughters and for the partner visa we have lodged at the moment they all had to take the X-Ray and medical so we had to time things just right as they could travel the 600klm's together and get it done at the same time.

Sorry if thats to much info.

Hi David, not married she just applied by herself for a tourist visa, now what I am about to say is direct to you and not some of the smartarses that troll about in here....

She is what I would term as a "good girl" i.e. never worked or even been in a bar,( and I am not saying your girl has ) she has 2 degrees and an MBA, worked in the same Company for 10 years plus etc etc etc and NO she is NOT half Chinese hahahaha, she just got a letter from her employer stating she was due leave and that she worked there, she submitted stuff like, bank statements, mortgage and car payment stuff etc etc.

I am not sure why they gave her a multi 12 month but I know for sure the reasons Thai women do get visas for Australia.

1. they must prove a stable work history

2. be of good character..

3. most importantly I believe.. they must show WHY they would not overstay in Australia, meaning the proof is on them to provide documentary evidence that they do need to return to Thailand..

Now of course this is just our/her experience, I'm sure that other woman could get a visa with the assistance of their Aussie bloke but I am 100% sure the primary thing the Aussie Gov is looking for is that the applicant should have a documentable reason to GO HOME..

Yes this is the real reason she was able to get a Visa my sister in law (Thai) gets Visa's to Aus all the time as she owns her own house and runs a business in Thailand, The reason they will give a Visa is the stronger the reason for them to return to Thailand the easier it is. Well done on getting the Visa

I totaly agree with everything above, just on the last paragragh in superpriks post... below,

" but I am 100% sure the primary thing the Aussie Gov is looking for is that the applicant should have a documentable reason to GO HOME.."

I agree but i would also add that there is a number of primary things not just 1.

For example... Another primary thing the Aus embassy in Bangkok(Aussie Gov) would be looking for would be money, either the applicant has to have the money or the applicants sponsor has to have the MONEY to show there will be no burden on the Aussie economy... and also has to have documented evidence to support this,

There is many Primary Things , it all depend's on the applicant's own circumstances and how well the application is presented.(must meet a certian criterior)

Supaprik whats a (snip)????

and I also agree with what you have stated but perhaps I didn't explain myself fully in my first post...

I did NOT sponsor her, I was not on her application at all, she applied herself and got herself her own visa, as I said she submitted all the details the embassy wanted which did include her bank statements etc etc etc, I guess what I am saying is ANY Thai woman can get her own visa if she has checkable/credible documentary evidence and the visa is NOT dependant on a sponsor at all. Of course some applicants that do not quite have enough of the requirements could use a sponsor and thus jointly apply and be successful..

Cheers and thanks also for your comments..

Hey nightwatch, thanks for asking, thought id give some feedback

We asked for a 1 year multi entry visa. This was rejected, but we did receive a 3 month single entry visa, date specific from September 20 – December 20 (3 month single entry option ticked).

Why this is not the most optimal outcome it is quite workable.

Someone from the embassy called my GF and gave her the reasons for rejecting the multi Their feedback to her was as follows explanations are as follows (these reasons are passed on to me from my GF)

  • In considering the multi, they looked at when my GF was last in OZ (June this year) and they took the time of our relationship as being from when she first came to AUS, despite our relationship being 20 months, and me having visited her 6 times in Thailand during that time.
  • I was sponsoring her for this visa so she was okay. She would not have got a 3 month visa with the monies she had in her account.
  • Her employment with family was not questioned.
  • In a year’s time (from the first visa to Australia - June) she would almost certainly gain a multi entry if applied for.
  • She can apply again in December for another 3 month visa

The application was comprehensive:

  • Sponsorship of her stay
  • Cover letter by myself
  • Copy my passport and ban statement
  • Detailed itinerary for each proposed visit she would be making within the 12 months
  • She completed the app with all her details and paperwork and lodged it in person with VFS bkk.
  • Evidence of relationship of 20 months (photos, copies of skype conversations, evidence of flight tickets, accommodation etc)

This excellent thread from david48 can also help with some comprehensive info

This makes me happy, I sent mine off last week, turns out they need our daughters passport to process the visa application... I found that strange, but if the turn around is only 5 days then I could care less. Hopefully I get the multi entry too!!

Sent from my Kindle Fire using Thaivisa Connect App

Ok, trying to (hopefully) get an application off tomorrow. I want to send off the application via mail but reading the websites I am not sure what exactly to do.

The vfs website says that you must send it from only certain locations, is this true ? Should I send to the vfs center or directly to the Embassy ?

Also is it a problem if you just put the cash in the envelope ? And am I right in thinking that it is 3850 (the visa cost) + 600 for the vfs ? I'm confused what the courier charge that is listed on http://www.vfs-au.net/courierapplication.html is about ..... and why is it so much ?

Thanks for any help !

Hi all.......may be of some help...my storey briefly is :

  • My partner and I commenced relationship Feb 2010
  • We have a son 21 months old...born Nov 2010...he has Australian Citizen by Decent, Oz and Thai passports
  • My son on my Medicare card
  • Partner has Australian TFN......I did this from Australia after she returned, with a well written letter to the ATO explaining my situation, (partner back in Thai) cert. copies of the required docs, I posted to her and she signed and retuned to me in OZ
  • My partner granted a 6 month tourist visa single entry, Nov 2011 to May 2012. We applied for 'up to 12 months'....got 6, with 8503 condition
  • yes she had to do a chest xray in BKK, which is required for any stay over 3 months,
  • we applied through VFS Roi Et....no cash, 1 cheque for Visa Application and 1 cheque for VFS charges / courier service. Very happy with their service, they can not offer advice, but very helpful and 'know their stuff'
  • Dont send cash in the mail....silly idea !
  • Yes 3850 bht for visa app
  • Yes 600 bht for courier / trackable service / through local VFS representative...you think about 20 bucks too much ?? You wana save 20 bucks by going to BKK, trains / taxis / finding your way to CC Tower (VFS Visa centre on behalf of OZ embassy) / accomodation etc ??
  • On our return to Thai last May we applied for Partner Visa 309 / 47SP, on the grounds of defacto partner, our intent to marry in Thai on my return
  • We did lodge this app ourselves at VFS CC Tower BKK
  • After medical / police check / (in BKK) certified a couple of docs....all good, finally placed in a queue for decision on 7th August 2012...according to Oz Embassy BKK....over 100 cases in front of her and up to 12 month wait for decision.
  • Had all that is required to substantiate relationship / my income / my support to her and my son etc, and a well put together application.
  • My son is free to travel anytime...back and forth, being duel citizen and passport holder
  • AND FANTASTIC NEWS YESTERDAY....She was granted a permanent visa 100
  • As far as I know, all visa apps go through VFS Office, CC Tower BKK.....

Hope this is of help to all.....regards

Congrats on getting the visa eyeluvthai,

Some very helpful info there,

I am in a similar situation that u were in, we applied for the 309/47sp on the 13/06/2012 also on defacto grounds.

We supplied all the relevent doccuments with the application and have done the medicals and police checks, but are yet to hear back from them,so we are going to apply for another TV whilst we are waiting,

We want to lodge our application through the courier service at udon thani as my partner is living at loei.

Just a question on how to pay,

Can we obtain the cheques for payment for the visa application , vfs and courier fees at the courier office in udon thani ?

if not how do we do this?

Hi Nightwatch....we payed everything through the VFS rep .....Roi Et....the lady there told us (through my miss's) what bank to go to get cashiers cheques, amounts and who to make payable to. Get your lady to call the contact number for VFS Udonthani...from the VFS website....they can explain to her all what you need to bring to them....organize a time and day to go there....often the VFS person will not be sitting in a specific VFS office waiting for people to come in, so you will have to organize....likely to be some shopfront / office somewhere in town...

Good luck, cheers
