January 29, 200620 yr Right, I won't beat around the bush. I live in Nai yang and I am a radio enthusiast. I like to twiddle my knobs in the middle of the night and get really excited when I hear Radio Bobo-diallasu from Outer Nowhere.... Now, where I live, the power-line interference is dire, and it totally spoils my solitary hobby (: What I need to find is a little house or commercial building to rent. This property must be in the middle of nowhere, but have mains electricity. It must also have the possibility of ADSL. Finally, it needs about half a rai of land where I can erect my miles of tangled copper wire that suffice for an antenna. Can anyone help me out? A little rural house for up to 10,000 baht or so will do. (I'm not even going to live there - just install my remote-controlled radio receivers, retreat to my Nai Yang house and listen in bliss whilst my wife laughs at me) Simon
January 29, 200620 yr Radio - radio I'd sit alone and watch your light My only friend through teenage nights And everything I had to know I heard it on my radio You gave them all those old time stars Through wars of worlds - invaded by Mars You made 'em laugh - you made 'em cry You made us feel like we could fly Radio So don't become some background noise A backdrop for the girls and boys Who just don't know or just don't care And just complain when you're not there You had your time, you had the power You've yet to have your finest hour Radio - radio All we hear is radio ga ga Radio goo goo Radio ga ga All we hear is radio ga ga Radio blah blah Radio what's new ? Radio, someone still loves you We watch the shows - we watch the stars On videos for hours and hours We hardly need to use our ears How music changes through the years Let's hope you never leave old friend Like all good things on you we depend So stick around 'cos we might miss you When we grow tired of all this visual You had your time - you had the power You've yet to have your finest hour Radio - radio All we hear is radio ga ga Radio goo goo Radio ga ga All we hear is radio ga ga Radio goo goo Radio ga ga All we hear is radio ga ga Radio blah blah Radio what's new ? By any chance are you the tax man? For sure I'll be keeping one eye open for those suspicious looking "miles of copper wire"! In fact...I'm off to see PU-YAI-BAAN now!
January 30, 200620 yr i think u can find such a place. there must be loads of places in more remote areas of the island such as around Mai Khao, around Kathu or even near Bang Pae waterfall that would qualify. You will have trouble getting ADSL but u could try IPstar. Phuket is a big island.
February 5, 200620 yr Author Well, I've been driving around the west coast with no joy. For sure, I found some quiet places around Mai Khao, but they had neither electricity nor phone-lines! I can use solar power to solve the electricity problem but I cannot use IP STAR because of the cost-factor. (The server that will sit in this house allows remote radio users worldwide to connect to my radio and tune/listen. so a fixed price ADSL link is needed... I'l take a look in the hills near Thalang.... Simon PS - The radio that I currently run from my house is part of this worldwide system - see www.dxtuners.com. I set this 'node' up for the enjoyment of global listeners, all costs borne by me!
