Its nearing 2 years for my wife being here with her stepdaughter and we will apply not 28 days before that date, some questions if anyone is helpful to know the answers to:

I think we will go in person to either Cardiff or Croydon, anyone know which is quicker? -

How much lead time is needed to make an appoitment?

Will they give me (the spouse) my passport back on the day (I have a trip planned nearby)

Do they give us a decision on the day?

I can't answer your first two questions, I'm afraid; but I suspect that processing times are roughly the same at either office.

Unless there is some problem, she should get her passport back with her ILR stamp the same day.
