Suspected Burmese drug lord Naw Kham will stand trial in Kunming, the capital of China’s Yunnan Province, on Thursday, according to a report by the state-run Xinhua news agency. He faces charges of orchestrating the murder of 13 Chinese sailors who were killed last October while patrolling the Mekong River. The leader of a drug gang that has long been notorious for its activities along the key regional waterway, Naw Kham was arrested in Laos on April 25 and sent to China the following month. Five other suspects will also be tried in the case.
