Hi

Could anyone give me some advice.

I am concerned that when we apply for my Wife and Duaghter to visit Australia for holiday we may get knocked back.

My concern is that my partner does not work but i support her and deposit money into her bank and this can be shown.

The other concern is that she does not have any assests e.g house, land, car as i read that this is a good thing when applying for visa to say she will be returning

to Thailand. Is it a good thing that we bye some land or house before applying for visa as we are looking at either one of these things or will it not help.

Regards

Dan you do realize that if you buy land and house the land will NOT be yours? You refer to you wife also as your partner are you married?

Just a suggestion I would think long and hard about buying her a house unless you are prepared to lose the money further down the road

.

But this is just my opinion

I do agree with the posted comment above and buying something to show a connection to Thailand is really not a good idea and would have next to naught weighting to a positive contribution (to the Visa application). Physicial things can be sold and the money transferred, via international transfers without a reason for returning to Thailand.

If you prepare the Visa Application yourself, think long and hard about the reason to give to the Aust govt. about the reason to return to Thailand within the Visa condition timing.

Not that your ladies' daughter is an 'asset' but you are potentially bringing her (the daughter) to Australia (could be) the main reason for your ladies chief reason to return to Thailand.

Others may disagree and have alternative answers/options for you but you might wish to get professional help with this application (... and I don't often say that).

Hi Dan1026

Probably the #1 determining factor re the issue/nonissue of a tourist visa is substantial evidence that the applicant shall return to Thailand. I believe that the majority of tourist visas are issued to persons without an employment history and with no real value of land ownership --- so that hurdle can be overcome.

Should the people at DIMA, whilst considering an application, suspect that the applicant shall overstay --- then they shall refuse the visa.

The people making these decisions are doing so based solely on the application to hand and it is your task to make this decision as clear & easy as possible.

A strong, detailed supporting letter outlining your family setup with emphasis on the strength, length and aspirations of your family...... shall hopefully interest the decision maker and perhaps elicit a more involved & friendly decision. This letter is your (only) opportunity to explain why the applicant is simply a tourist and shall certainly return to Thailand.

Ensure that all the other requirements of the application are done correctly & keep a personal copy of all you send -- it shall assist your next application.

The above post is very good. Last year my girlfriend ( now wife) applied for a tourist visa. She did not have employment at that time and had no assets. In my letter I explained that I would support her while in Australia. I stated where we would be going and what we would be doing. My girlfriend received a phone call from the embassy. She was asked questions in Thai and then I spoke to the officer. The officer asked me questions about our relationship. They wanted proof re telephone calls to prove we were in a relationship. I supplied this the next day and her tourist visa was approved. My advise is give them as much info as possible.
