The Bum Gun

Featured Replies

Hey guys

I bought a bum gun and wanna fix it up at my home in London.

Can anyone tell me if its a job I can do it myself and more importantly the amount it will add to my water bill every month...?

Thanks

A friend of mine wanted to do the same thing in his home in Aberdeen - till i pointed out the HUGE difference in the "cold" water supplies between here and there!!w00t.gif

In order to be legal in the UK it will need to have a double check valve (that's a redundant non-return valve) like you would put on an outside tap to prevent any possibility of back suction into the rising main.

They do tend to fire ice cubes in winter.

As to your water bill, it depends how many times you have a dodgy curry smile.png

lol thanks guys

In actual fact Ill be moving to Oz soon so gonna pick up another one on the way there.

Im guessing the legality of it will be pretty similar to the Uk...?

It something I really wanna have in my house, cant live without it now and in all honesty, is it realistically, easy for a non skilled plumber to fix up himself...? (me)

I am in OZ and fitted my own "Bum Gun" {love that name}/ Dead easy. Cannot understand why people insist on smearing mushed up old trees across their arse and thinking they have cleaned it .....Bum Gun is Luxury!!!!!

can you give me some advice as to how?

I thought the "bum gun" was a great addition to my outhouse in Canada, can get a little chilly though

Bum Gun is Luxury!!!!!

This might push the boat out, but it gets you around firing ice cubes.

You might also want to consider that the water pressure in UK is probaly much higher than in Thailand. The result of a high pressure jet of icy cold water would certainly be refreshing to say the least.

Could the water pressure not be adjusted though?

I had a look at the toliet today and have no idea how it would hook up, cant be that hard though surely...?

Easy Peasy. Get a T junction and fit if to the cistern inlet at the base of the cistern feeding water to both the cistern and the Bum Gun. It is done . Water presure can then be moderated if a problem by reducing the flow at the tap on the cistern feed ..... the cistern will refill a bit slower but this is no problem . Good Luck and plesant squirting .

I often bring several back to the US as gifts to my tree destroying friends and the installation is a breeze and people love them and request more when I return. I have grown to be totally addicted to them and so have most of my friends who use them. Legend explains the simple solution to installation above.

Makes me wonder.....was it a Thai invention?? or did they steal it from some other country??

I've been looking to install this in my house in Boston (USA), as my wife and I are both missing the Bum Gun. I think I'll wait, however, until March or so as the water temp will be way too cold this winter.

I found some good info on how to actually install it here: http://www.thailandfriends.com/entry.php/41985-Installing-a-Bum-Gun

Though I don't know about UK laws, I don't see any issues with doing it yourself and not informing the city. Mind you, I don't know your local laws...

Been in a few hotels that the water from the bum gun is temperature controlled. Wasn't a 500 THB hotel however

France ? The bidet name seems to point that way. Had it for the last 30y at my parents house in Finland too, can't imagine it being a Thai thing.

The ice effect was solved back home by connecting the gun to the faucet. You'd let the warm water run until temp was arsepleasing and then trigger the gun.

You need to install it to a adjustable water temp heater the you can have a warm wash

Don't know if available everywhere or if Thai threads are the same ....but here I used T junctions with an inbuilt tap ( a tap in water supplies to sinks, toilets etc are not the norm here). As you say... used it to limit pressure to stop unwanted colon irrigation.

Thai, UK and US 1/2" pipe threads are sufficiently similar that they will fit no problem.

Biggest problem in the US is that the bathrooms are not sunken and do not have tile floors and drains. So all of the overflow that goes outside of the toilet soaks whatever floor covering you have in the bathroom and mine was wall to wall carpet as the shower was an enclosed unit.

You can use flow restricting gasket/washers that they put in faucets, showers, etc. Eg:

Just a piece of advice - buy the VRH bum guns, they use real stainless and are a steal at around 600 baht. For what it matters, they also come with 10 yrs warranty.

You must be doing it wrong.

Please take a video and post it of your next khee so that we can see how to do it right without getting the floor wet!
