French embassy issues flood warnings for its citizens

BANGKOK, 25 September 2012 (NNT) - The French Embassy in Bangkok is issuing travel warnings for its citizens in Thailand, recommending against all but essential travel to flood-hit areas.

According a statement on the embassy’s website, French citizens are advised to avoid travelling to affected provinces such as Phitsanulok, Phichit, Prachinburi and Sakaeo.

A series of particularly strong seasonal storms with heavy rainfall have produced extensive flooding throughout many provinces in Thailand.

It further stated that the flooding has not hampered transportation, and essential services in the affected regions are open to the public as usual.

The embassy urges its citizens to contact its office in Bangkok for more information or to log onto http://www.ambafranc...-aux-voyageurs.

Wow, they finally got all the relevant approvals to issue the flood warning?

Or is that for this year?

I guess they didn't buy 'Lucky's' earlier statement... "There is no food price hike!"

I mean... "I am not working for my brother!"

Hmmm, let's try that again..."There will not be any flooding in Thailand in 2012!"

I wonder how the government will spin this one if embassies are issuing warning this early.

I think, the PM need to summon the french Ambassador!

A TIMELY warning from the people who won both world wars; single handedly too. giggle.gif

cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif Thanks. You made my day.I'll not start with the french surrender jokes (but true). I'll leave that to someone else.

No no it's all just a misunderstanding. According to google translate the embassy was warning it's drunk citizens to remain clear of the flood waters.

ATTN Thai Govt: You clearly stated that it is impossible for Thailand to flood this year.

Please insist that the French are wrong and they should not warn their citizens, as you said it will be safe.

Given the state of Asoke Rd at the moment, the warning was quite timely.

The poor French ambassador will have to explain this to the Thai government and I feel that a formal excuse by mr Hollande will be required.

C'mon guys there is no flooding it is the blue print for a new water parkwhistling.gif

The French Ambassador will not show anywhere in Thailand...We do not have any Ambassador for more than 6 months now...

By the way i will tell you my favorite french bashing joke :

Do you know how a french kills himself?

He shoots himself 20cm upper his head, right in his superiority complex

(yeah, with teh franglish translation)
