Phil Conners
I see these different color cooking gas cylinders around, but nobody is able to explain me what's the difference. Anyone know? (Just curious).
kennedy
None, just the color. Thais use many colors.

Phil Conners
Don't ask me, I don't know, that's why I asked Yes probably different brands, but is that all? Some places sell (replace) both green and purple tanks, but will not replace for example a purple with a green. The orange I only think I've seen at markets, maybe it's a "pro" or "commercial" edition.
CharlieH
Color denotes origin supplier, some are "inter-changeable" for the re-seller some are not. Edited September 26, 2012 by CharlieH
harrry
Even with Oxygen they just refil their tanks whether they say oxygen or NO2 or whatever. They do not care about the colour codes at all. Edited September 26, 2012 by harrry
JaiLai
Color denotes origin supplier, some are "inter-changeable" for the re-seller some are not. I think this is correct, not all the fittings on the top of the bottles are compatible.

Bought a new gas-oven and had to buy a new bottle with the appropriate pressure valve and tubing. Yermanee
Phil Conners
After many moves I've somehow ended up with both a green and a purple bottle, and they are certainly interchangeable.

Maybe you should mix the green and Purple gas and see what happens
StreetCowboy
In the UK the different colours indicated different gases - propane or butane. SC
