Thai South: Vendors Close Shops Out Of Fear Of 'punishment'

No rant - the context of my post was the comment by a99az "Annex a small chunk of useless land (at the boarder,) build a wall around it and send the trouble makers to live there in exile. Shoot anyone entering back into Thailand". Not sure those territory he is referring to regarding "annexe some land" - logically he is referring to Malaysia & that would be an act of war.

Whose homeland? - Palestinian (remember the two State solution of the Oslo Accords that has yet to be finalised by both parties) In the context of this topic "homeland" of the Thai Muslims in the Deep South or are you agreeing with a99az that the solution is ethnic cleansing?

Israeli Territory? - establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, plus additional territory occupied and retained as a security buffer as a result of the Arab/Israeli wars after 1948

Then I guess, perhaps, that you should have quoted a99az instead of Tinfoilhat, as it appears that your reply is to his(?) statement and not to a99az's as you imply in your most recent post. In the case of a99az's post, we both agree for the most part. Thank you.

Nine insurgents surrender in Yala

October 3, 2012 1:54 pm

A group of nine southern insurgents surrendered to the authorities in Yala on Tuesday, saying that they wished to give up their fight and were ready to face existing legal procedures.

Yala Governor Dejrat Simsiri was on hand to witness the nine coming forward to report to the authorities to help restore peace in the southernmost provinces.

Four were suspects who may have been involved in previous violent attacks although insufficient evidence is available to request arrest warrants from the court.

Three were defendants whose cases are pending in the courts for security related offences.

All have been temporarily released with verification documents issued by the Yala authorities.

The remaining two men are defendants in a security-related case. They were acquitted by the Court but said they still live in fear and that they decided to meet the authorities after learning about the policy to bring peace to the troubled region.

Dejrat said the province has been implementing a development policy to ease violence in the area, based on His Majesty the King’s advice - to understand, access and develop the local area as well as setting up the Yala Outreach Centre between October 2009 and April 3 this year.

During the period, 209 insurgents joined the government’s attempt to bring peace to the southern provinces.

So these murdering terrorists want to give themselves up immediately after the grenade attacks on the market people, where they killed and maimed a hell of a lot.

They are also connected with a heap of other murders in the districts in the south.

What do they want some sympathy, or are they scared of what is going to eventually happen to all terrorists in the future.

Who knows? Do you know? I don't know!

From the time someone "gives their self up" to the time the facts are "Thai'd" up with lies and half-truths and salted down by some editor's and reporter's bias, ignorance, "face" interpretation and idiocy, who knows what actually happened, is happening, and for what reasons?

Maybe the ones who "turned" their selves in thought something else entirely and are now trying to get their selves out of the fix they walked into.

Conjecture is the better part of reason when addressed or faced with a Thai absolute.
