Thailand And Japan To Sign Economic Partnership Agreement

DPM Somkid affirms that Thailand and Japan will sign EPA on April 3rd

Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister SOMKID JATUSRIPITAK (สมคิด จาตุศรีพิทักษ์) asserted that the government will commence the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with Japan on April 3rd. He indicated that Thailand will gain benefits from this agreement.

He said that Thailand and Japan will sign the bilateral EPA together, with an aim to enhance economic cooperation between both nations. He also discussed this issue with the ministers of the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Industry Ministry, and the Commerce Ministry. The ministers agreed to schedule April 3rd as the day of signing the pact between the two leaders of both countries.

He said that the pact will give Thailand various advantages, especially in the agricultural sector. Other foreign countries will also accept the quality of Thai products as Japan has a high standard on product quality inspections.
