Hi I have a friend who has being trying in vain to make an appointment at The Public Enquiry Office in Sheffield to apply for his wifes ILR, the earliest available appointment was June 2013? so he tried all the other 6 offices nothing avalable at any of them till after his wifes qualifiying period has elapased he is now making steps to send a postal application but would prefer the fast track option, anyone else had the same experience & if so did you manage to get an appointment through tryin everyday hoping for a cancelation?

^^ Does she need to have a PEO appointment? Yes, it can be quicker, but quite frankly the postal route does not take that long and is cheaper.

Applying by post can be frustrating as it can take 3 to 6 months to get an answer.

However, unless the applicant will need to travel outside the UK in that time, it is the way I'd recommend.

At current fee levels a personal application is £386 more expensive than a postal one, plus an extra £193 for each child included in the application (if any).

Then there's the need to take a day off work and the costs of traveling to the PEO.

LTR fees are extortionate enough; why give them more money than you have to?
