Burmese President Thein Sein is planning to visit South Korea in the near future, according to an official announcement released on Thursday. The Burmese leader will make the trip at the invitation of  South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, who visited Burma in May. Lee was the first South Korean head of state to travel to Burma since 1983, when North Korean agents attempted to assassinate then-South Korean President Chun Doo-hwan in Rangoon. During Lee’s visit, Thein Sein discussed development cooperation and said that Burma would stop buying weapons from North Korea.
