Tennis Partner And Tennis In General

Hello Chiang Mai forum members,

I am a (30 year old German) newbie in Chiang Mai and I want to desperately play tennis.

My level of play is advanced and I like to play singles and doubles but don't mind to play with intermediate level players.

As I read on this forum there is a regular doubles meet up the 700 stadium. Is this still on?

I am very grateful for any support from you guys to guide me in the right direction.

I'd be happy about a hitting partner or playing doubles, please drop me a line here or contact me on 0813862068.

Thanks again and hope to play soon.

Digga/Simon,

Welcome to Chiang Mai! I play tennis fairly regularly to an advanced standard (US 4.5/5.0 level), though I am currently in Europe until late November. I will be in touch when i return. In the meantime i can point you in the right direction.

A group of us used to play doubles and would welcome any new players to the group (most players advanced, some intermediate), this used to take place at Gymkhana Club on a Saturday afternoon and some evenings in the week from 5pm. However the courts aren't in the best condition, but they're ok.

- If you want some contact numbers i can forward these to you by PM - let me know if you do.

When i left in mid September the courts at 700 year were being resurfaced and it was becoming difficult to book a court, though things may have improved by now. There's a guy (Nick) at 700 year who's a good hitter, think the cost is about 200 Baht/hour including the court.

They also have a doubles group from 4.30 - 8pm(ish), cost 60 baht, though the standard can vary greatly.

I also know a few guys of a similar standard to myself who play singles fairly regularly and I am sure they would welcome playing new players of the same ability, we are a fairly sociable lot, so let me know if you want me to provide you with some more contact details for singles play.

The best courts by a country mile IMO are at the Imperial Resort and Spa off the Mae Rim Road, though its quite far from town, though not really much further than travelling to 700 Year. Very nice indeed. I think you can become a member for 1000 Baht/Month (includes Swimming Pool, Fitness and tennis courts). Its usually pretty quiet there so no problem in booking a court.

There is also some courts at CMU of average quality, I'm sure some of the top tennis players on the CMU tennis team, would give you a good game, again you'd probably have to go there and take a look for yourself sometime after 4pm.

if you fancy playing some competitive tennis (in Bangkok that is) check out the BangkokTennis.net website and get in touch with Frank Miller. I played in a couple of the single events, very well organised and as the events are on skill level (4.0/4.5/5.0/etc), you play players of a similar standard to yourself.

If you want me to send you contact names and numbers, let me know and ill send you a PM.

Hopefully see you on the tennis court in November!

Hi, is it too late to respond?

I have been living in Thailand for about 3 years now and really starting to miss playing tennis. I played competition for about 10 years or so but its been a good 4 years since I've picked up a racket so I am not too sure how good I am now. Anyway it would be great if I could find some people to play tennis with.

If you are still looking for someone or an extra, just let me know

Thanks

Joy

HI,

I live in Chiang Mai and 2 months ago started to learn tennis. I am 25 years old and spend 3 hours daily with the training wall. I have a partner who has the same level of skills but he doesn't training too much and the time that he can survive on the court is not enough for me. I want to grow up quickly and want to training a lot. Looking for someone who is ready to play very often. I play at 700 years stadium

Hello,

I joined the doubles group two years ago and it was good, but I can't find out if that's still happening.

I might be living here and looking to play. I'm a 3.5 in the U.S. I might want to play even while visiting if anyone is interested at that level.
