Old Croc
There's place on Wiset Rd opposite Fishermans Way that is reasonable for pool stuff. (not far from your place) If you want to travel to Chalong I can give you some soda ash. I have a huge sack of it and hardly ever use it. LivinginKata
Yes, I buy from the place on Wiset opposite Fishermans Way. Best not to buy the cheap Chinese chlorine as it does not seem to work so well. Tried the stuff on Chaofa West past/opposite the PTT before Wat Chalong, not so good. stevehaigh
i'm not familiar with Fishermans Way. there are 3 pool places i know of on wiset, one is Adam pool near sai yuan, the other is an old chinese lady on the bay (east) side of the road and the other always seems to be closed, can't quite remember where it is. do you know which one it is? LivinginKata
It's just past the big Chalong Tesco on the way to Rawai, right side of the road.
stevehaigh
i found that place, tnp chemical or something like that its called, i guess fishermans way is where rosovivo pizza and the pcx performance place is. they wanted 4500b for 50kg chlorine (trichlorocyanuric acid) from china. so i checked pool mart in town and they charge 4066b for 50kg, also from china, so i got the cheaper one, no idea if its better or worse than the one in rawai
LivinginKata
We paid 4,500 baht last time at that place opposite Fishermans. {revious time we paid 3,900 baht opposite PTT and it was poor quality and we had to use much more granules for a similar effect. I was hoping it was food grade but after buying and reaserching it, it is best to be used only as pool filter. PM me if you are intersted.

PM me if you are intersted. i have a sand filter but i must say it doesn't seem to filter much, maybe because i don't run it long enough because i'm khee neow about the electric bill. anyhow, one time i though to my self, 'how about i throw a little bit of DE powder into the filter, see if it filters finer like a DE filter'? well it didn't, it just clogged up the filter and made the pump work twice as hard. so now i wait for a month or so until it starts to look a bit dirty, then i use sang som (aluminum sulphate), 100baht for 3kg from rawai hardware, let it settle out the shit for 12 hours and pump out, then wait 24hrs and pump again. i loose 5-6cm of water doing this but with all the rain at the moment that's not a problem. and the water ends up as clear as can be. Sounds like you were charged farang price, we paid 3300 baht for the last 50 kg we bought from the pool shop down past the PTT service station and were quoted 4500 baht at the place opposite fishermans way Same container and same labels, it could be made in China like most things nowadays but works fine for us and as soon as its on special again i will buy another 50kg Just got back from 8 days away and the pool is still crystal clear and i have not cleaned it for a month We use Govt water to top up our pool when necessary not water from the local stream/ creek that could be the source of your pool water problems
Phuketliving
TO ALL OFF YOU...... Chlorine is commmng in 3 grades 60-75 and 90 % chinese or ........ in general its from Nissan , [granular or powder] you get what you pay for ... less % you will use more ...... . DE is ONLY for DE filters NEVER for sandfilters . containers and labels say nothing as 99 times the drum is not factory sealed ....... and now ......... average consumption against price and liters in the pool . When using a saltwater chlorinator you can either add the stabiliser as an extra chemical to prevent loss of chlorine or configure the saltwater chlorinator to produce twice the amount of chlorine to make up for the losses. Most manufacturers of saltwater chlorinators will state that their particular unit is good for a certain amount of cubic metres but fail to inform that it needs cyanuric acid to achieve the result & many dealers also fail to pass this on or just do not know. Nowadays you can actually buy salt that contains pool stabiliser thus helping in keeping running costs down.

Phuketliving
Yes - yes - as Peter say's who cares who makes it ....... What you trow in - how long your pump is running , zebrit- UV - dE - how many back wash - etc....... . I learned 1 thing - Never get in a Discusion abouth a Pool - many reply's are from Pool specialists ( Beside from Valentine who is a real specialist ) . Each Pool is different , location , UV , Water conditions , trees around , etc............. . Then initial instalation is different , size of pipes , filter , amounth of inlets , pump ( power ) etc.......... . size of pool - chlorine - Salth - filter De or sand or Zebrit ..... amounth of rain ................ Well as said , as long it is working for YOU and YOU are happy ... Maybe add Pepper or vinigar ........... The question or topic was recomendation abouth PRICE .
