I just finished cleaning my new pool after the contractor left it full of grout, sand, etc. then filled it with well water. Now, because I am refilling it with our well water vs. the yellow government water, I would like to find out if anyone has used HEDP products for chelating the calcium.

Our well water is very hard. Approx. 480 ppm according to the government test. I have read on the internet that using Hydroxy Ethylidene Diphosphonic acid in your pool water the calcium will not scale nor bond to tile surfaces but will instead remain in solution. We have a salt water pool but I've read that this has nothing to do with the calcium buildup and will not eliminate it.

My questions for anyone that may have used this method are this: What is the mixing ratio of the chemical to water? Did using fix the hard water/calcium problem?
