Life Insurance

Featured Replies

Hi does anyone have a phone number/email address for a good life/endowment insurance company. I want to put away a little each month for my daughter so she receives a lump sum on her18th birthday.

Many thanks

In my experience - there aren't any.

Typically marketed as either life/quasi medical plans, they offer the worst of both worlds - derisory levels of cover and an effective negative rate of interest. You'd be better off putting your money under the bed than investing in a Thai life insurance plan.

You'd be better off buying Thai blue chip bonds and government issued bonds, all generally available over the counter of the same banks which try and flog you their versions of life insurance.

Right. I attended a seminar on tax savings a while ago and I asked the speaker why he didn't mention anything about life insurances. After all they are tax deductible.

The answer was that they are the worst case scenario of saving money, even with the tax benefit added.

Looking into it a bit deeper it is beyond me that people fall for it.

Some calculations I did a while back

Go to any Bangkok Bank branch, they have a very appropriate insurance system for the purpose you mentioned.

The Thai premiums for Life insurance are a joke - period
