Govt's one-year performance report going to cabinet

BANGKOK, Oct 8 - Minister to the Prime Minister's Office Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisal said on Monday that the report on the Yingluck Shinawatra administration's performance during its first year in office will be submitted for cabinet approval tomorrow.

"The highlight of the report is the government's 16 priorities of policies implementing its campaign pledges. Others include drug suppression, ‘First Home’ and ‘First Car’ programmes as well as rice pledging scheme," the minister said.

Once the cabinet gives green light to the report without any revision, it will be forwarded to parliament in early November, Mr Niwatthamrong said. Parliament then will set a date for the government to deliver its one-year performance report to the assembled lawmakers.

The minister shrugged off concerns over the possibility that the Opposition would grill the government in particular regarding rice pledging programme, saying ministers who are responsible for the policy would be able to clear up any doubts.

The Democrats earlier criticised the government for pressing ahead with the rice pledging plan, arguing that it is marred with corruption and is wasteful. In addition, according to critics, it will also mean that Thailand ends up with a huge amount of rice in government stockpiles.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra emphasised that the scheme is aimed at helping rice farmers and that the rising incomes of farmers would eventually stimulate the country's economy. (MCOT online news)

One years performance report. Not even worth commenting.

Performance report?

What an absolutely bizarre concept. The PM's office gets to write the report, the cabinet gets to approve it, and then the parliament gets to vote on approving what? What a total and utter waste of paper.

It depends what the targets are.

If it is about filling the pockets and please Thaksin, the performance is top.

Doing something for the population has no profit.

Nothing like an independent report. bah.gif Wish I could written my own report card when in school. Straight A's it is. tongue.png

Exactly - there is nothing like an independent report, and this is exactly that, nothing like an independent report...

.How and when? Please tell me/

Not surprising that the rice scheme was brought on line so fast. It was the one that offered more politicians graft the fastest

Just to remind all out there what we are referencing and to what performence might relate. From the policy statement read out by PM Yingluck August 2011:

"1. Urgent Policies to be Implemented in the First Year"

BTW from previous discussions here I understand that the very fact the government has these policies, started talking about them and even started the long way to full implementation means success!

Am I getting this right or have I missed something, the cabinet is going to decide the performance of their own Government during the last year,of which they are all Cabinet Members.

I must go and have a lay down!

Jeez Rubl if they judge themselves by that list they will have to resign from office. Miserable Failure would be over stating their accomplishments. They will have to use a new list.

The number one accomplishment would be keeping Thaksin out of the country where he would have to run the Government for two years inside a jail cell with out a cell phone.
