I have a valid single entry ED visa and my extension is due the last week of November

I would like however to change the extension to a non O based on retirement

I will have no problems with the moneytary requirement based on the combination method

Please can somebody help me with the following questions:

  1. which application form number or forms do I have to fill in & when
  2. Am I correct in thinking that I only need the following

  • filled in application form
  • ? photo (s)
  • copy of my passport ( ? every page)
  • evidence of pension income (does it need to be certified by Aus. Embassy)
  • copy of my bankbook with the funds in it to make up the difference

+ ? letter from bank

Your help is much appreciated

ED non immigrant visas seem to have limited ability to be used for other reasons so check if allowed - you may have to obtain a non immigrant O visa and then apply after 60 days.

1. TM.7 with 4x6cm photo taken within six months (fee 1,900 baht) and done during last 30 days of entry allowed stay.

2. Letter of pension income from your embassy. Passbook and copies of bank deposit and letter from bank of balance. Passport data/visa/entry stamps and departure card copies. Proof of address such as lease copy.

Thank you Lopburi3

I have just downloaded TM86 for change of visa to get the non O visa, plus TM 8 for re-entry permit as I might make a trip outside Thailand

Then after 60 days I attend to points 1 & 2 as you advised plus TM8 for multiple re-entry

Proof of address is no problem as I own my condo and will take a copy of the deed. Does this have to be verified by the embassy ?

Have I got this right?

Deed does not have to be veryified, only the income.

You do not use tm 86 form, as that is for when you enter Thailand with a tourist visa and want to change to a non-immirgant visa. You already have a non-immigrant visa and simply change the reason for your stay in Thailand with the tm7 form, as mentioned by Lopburi3.

If immigration doesn't want to change your reason of stay from education to retirement, then you simply leave the country and return and use form tm87 (to change to a non-immigrant visa)

Thank you Mario

Will get all my paperwork in order and try to get it changed

One question i forgot to ask.... the money in bank which makes up the difference does that have to be in the bank for a certain period, or is that only when you do it by bank ballance alone

Money does not have to be seasoned if using combination method and does not even if using only bank for the first conversion of visa phase.
