Representatives of the Shan State Army-North (SSA-North) plan to meet with government peace negotiators to discuss demands from the Burmese army to cede control of one of its military strongholds, according to a report from the Shan Herald Agency for News. The group, which has already withdrawn from two mountain bases situated near crossings on the Salween River which link it to its Wa allies, is now under pressure to leave another base near a tributary of the river. According to the BBC Burmese Service, the group will send a delegation to Naypyidaw on Wednesday.
