Last year i had a lot of hassle when trying to get my wife an Schengen visa for spain. We are now thinking of having 7 nights away at the end of the month, i know that its expensive phoning for a greek visa, But is there a country that its easy to get a schengen visa. I have read that france is easy to get a visa.

Not sure, and someone will no doubt come along to confirm or correct..

But shouldn't you apply for the Shengen Visa for the country which will be your first port of entry?

If is easy to get a visa for a certain country, Likes of france, Then we may take a holiday in that Country.

also it will be interesting to know other peoples experiences on how they found applying for schengen visa for other countries

I suspect it's because the OP and his wife live in the UK and he doesn't want replies telling him to apply to the French embassy in Bangkok!

They should recognize your wife as a family member as the the spouse of an EEA national just present your marriage certificate.

As far as I am aware under EEA Law that's all they require & you should point this out to the relevant embassy.

Ah , just read that you don't need a schengen Visa or any visa for my wife to visit Turkey, I could see mrs T and myself going to Turkey ;-)

On another note. Once a IIR has been issued to someone staying in the UK, Do you still have to apply for a Schengen Visa?

Thai visa, I had to explain my rights to the spanish consulate who had told me that my wife would not be allowed to get a Visa. they soon changed there way of thinking.

I tried to get a Visa for my wife and it came out that it is impossible. I'm German and already married by law for nine years, by Tai and German law. The embassy denied the visa because they didn't believe that my wife will ever return to Thailand once in Germany/ Europe, despite the proof of capital, land ownership and our kids waiting at home. I gave up, <deleted> for it. I don't need/miss Germany/Europe.

hope the German Embassy in Bangkok is not that bad, as I am traveling with my Thai wife to my daughters wedding in Germany, have the papers from the Amt, and invitations and copies of ID cards of both of them, and also all the usual documents for a visa (same ones we used for a swiss visa).

The EEA freedom of movement regulations do not apply if the non EEA national spouse is applying to the country of which their spouse is a citizen. In such cases that countries own immigration law and visa regulations apply.

Fatfather is German and his wife was applying to visit Germany; but you, Beano, are British, so to obtain a German Schengen visa she should only have to show that you are British and she is your wife.
