I was having a friendly debate with a friend of mine and decided to take it here to the "trusted" Thaivisa community to settle our little dispute.

We were dicussing which scene is more "disturbing" the "squeal like a piggy" scene from Deliverance, or the "bring out the Gimp" scene from Pulp Fiction?

Without a doubt the bring out the gimp scene. Disturbing but a true masterpiece.

I found the greenhouse scene out of scum probably one of the most disturbing pieces of cinema i have ever seen :o far worse than Bring out the gimp

Ok then, the gimp scene is where Bruce Willis and the big gangster boss are held in the cellar of the porn shop to be anally raped by Zed the policeman and the porn shop owner,, the gimp was guy kept chained in bondage gear, they brought him out to watch the rape. while they were raping the gangster boss, our hero (Bruce) manged to slip his bonds and make his escape. However before leaving the porn shop his concience got the better of him and he returned with a samuri sword and rescued the rape victim, - ring any bells?

Hmmmm.. vaguely! I tend to block out horror stuff. I do recall the heroin overdose scene though. That was dramatic! :D

The last horror scene in any movie that I allowed myself to remember was the spinning head in the original The Exorcist.... :o

"Squeal like a pig" is a cult classic so the words will ring forever in my mind........

How does someone forget the gimp scene in Pulp Fiction? :o

Hmm, I'd say gimp scene most disturbing, probably because the setting was in a 'safe' zone, ie. shop on a street in a city, something everyone can relate to as oppose to the wilderness of deliverance.

I totally agree with Daleyboy though, the scene in Scum is brutal and beats them both just for the sheer reality of it.

The rape scene in clockwork orange disturbed me, when the daughter gets raped in front of her father, I remember reading ecstacy (Irvine Walsh) and there is a prolonged gang rape going on over several days (central to the story line) that I found the most disturbing, something about using your imagination to fill in the visuals, seems to make it worse

horrible stuff

trainspotting, enjoyed the book and the movie, more funny than disturbing IMO smile.gif

Trainspotting, when he dropped his heroin in the toilet and dived in to retrieve it. Swimming amongst the crap put me off.

pills he stuck up his arse actually Croc.

There was a lot about that movie I found disturbing - the guy that died of AIDS for example.

I used to live where it was filmed, maybe that why.

Trainspotting I found more sad and funny then disturbing. Lives like those loved by the characters are not that uncommon, sadly. Maybe that is why I didn't find it disturbing, I knew people like that.

Clockwork Orange didn't disturb me, just drove me nuts. Watching that movie was something of a pain.

That scene, though short, in Killing Zoe still gets to me.

Khall? Jaws? Oh, you sad little thing. :o

tbb, from those two choices, I would go with the squeel like a pig from Deliverence... However, If i were to include other movies, then, well, you just mentioned clockwork orange... All the violence no, but the part where he HAS to watch those movie reels and his eyes are clamped open and OOhhhH!!!!!!!!!

The oe I was thinking of, though, was the infamous Marathon Man... IS IT SAFE scene...

I know those two are just the tip of the iceberg, so feel free to bring up others, if you are brave enough. :o

I the first scene in ‘The Phantom Menace’ when we were first introduced to ‘Jar Jar Binks’ was utterly terrible. So many Star Wars fans, having waited since they were twelve years old, were so let down. :o

A tragic moment in cinematic history: verging on terrifying, but surely shocking. :D

The worst for me has to be the baseball bat scene at the end of Casino where the two brothers bet battered then buried alive. :D

When I saw one of them breath out through the dust being shovelled onto his face , that did it for me. :D:D:o:D

Yeah, or the trunk scene in Goodfellas. :D

A good mob movie will always have a scene that makes you cringe.
