[Myanmar] Adb And Norway To Fund Study On Burmese Tourism

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Norway will give Burma US $225,000 to help it formulate a plan to sustainably develop its tourism industry, according to a report by TTR Weekly, a journal on tourism in the Mekong Region. “To ensure benefits are sustainable and extend to more people, the country needs a comprehensive plan that respects culture and the environment,†said the head of the ADB’s mission Burma, Putu Kamayana. International visitor to Burma could top 1 million this year, generating an estimated $390 million in foreign exchange and providing about 50,000 jobs.
