PATTAYA:--A driver suspected of being heavily intoxicated overturned her car in North Pattaya early on Monday Morning.

Police and rescue services were called to the Sukhumvit Road where it intersects with Highway 36 just after midnight and concentrated their efforts on rescuing the trapped driver of a Black Nissan Almera, Khun Piyawadee aged 36, who was acting in an extremely aggressive manner despite efforts to pull her from her overturned car. Witnesses saw the car being driven at speed and the driver appeared to lose control and she came off the main carriageway.

The car then overturned in the central reservation. There was some urgency in the rescue as some feared a possible explosion as smoke began to come from the fuel tank. Despite this, the victim continued to be abusive and even spat at rescuers and Police during the rescue which puzzled some but others suggested a possible head injury combined with excess alcohol may have caused her aggressive nature.
