A government commission investigating the causes of the deadly communal violence that wracked Arakan State in June is facing new hurdles as local people have become increasingly unwilling to cooperate, according to Burmese comedian Zarganar, who is one of the commission’s 27 members. “At some point, things have become tougher as we do not have enough cooperation from all sides,†he said in an interview with Radio Free Asia. He added that commission’s work is still far from complete, and that it was unlikely to meet a Nov. 14 deadline set by President Thein Sein.
