Any London To Bkk One Way Flights At A Good Price ?

Hi

I`m after a reasonably priced 1 way London to BKK flight ticket, after having mis calculated travels plans.( Early Novemebr, a little flexibility on date)

The 1 way prices seem close to returns, found an EVA Air 1 way at £ 480 yet return is just £ 580.

I`ve checked loads of sites, including most of the well known London based on line flight centres to no avail.

I have no plans to return back to the UK until 2014, so a return ticket is of no use unless there are any with around 15-18 month vaildity but think the longest is 12 months ?

My own fault for not planning properly but the 1 way flights all seem so expensive compared to returns.

Is there a way to get a decent 1 way price?

I would happily route to somewhere near Thailand, e.g. Manilla, Phnom Penh, Vientiane, stop for a couple of days then travel to Bangkok if that makes any difference.

Any useful suggestions welcomesmile.png

Thanks.

Hopefully you are aware of the visa position here ? if you get a one way and dont have the right paperwork they may not even let you on the plane !

Just in case you weren't aware of it.

The only other suggestion I would have would be that you may have better prices flying to the main hubs in the area, Hong Kong or Kuala Lumpur, or even Singapore.

They are all major hubs for the airlines and you may get a deal., only a suggestion.

Hi

Answers so far apreciated, as to visa , will have non imm O, so not concerned with 1 way travel but thanks for mentioning/asking.

I`ve tried westeast, usually good and used them before but no decent deals for 1 way this time, will look at the others later

Sri Lankan, hadn`t considered, good suggestion, have flight availability at/ around my preferred dates, prices OK.

I`ll also take a look at flying in to HK or KL..

Thanks.

If you cannot afford the flight why are you coming here

it seems you will stay for an extended period of time this means you need MONEY

why are people always penny pinching for a flight when this probably the least of the cost for an extended stay

boggles me mind

Yes, maybe another working without the required visa and permit

Perhaps consider surface-travel to the Continent, then a cheap one-way ticket onwards to BKK, to avoid the high-cost of UK Departure-Tax ?

Or just maybe that the OP uses common sense in his expense planning which then allows him to stay until 2014........................

Did he mention he was working ?? No......

I can afford the flight, just seems that the 1 way fligthts I`ve looked at seem poor value compared to returns, hence the question in my OP which has received some uesful answers.

I live in Thailand, retired, don`t work but just took a trip back to UK and Europe, the 1 way price from Thailand was half the return trip price hence I booked it to allow myself more flexibility.

That in retrospect was a mistake.

1 ways from UK not so good value.

beano,

Date would be between 4th and 11 th November, a little flexible there.

Yes, Sri Lankan have some reasonable prices compared to others,

Ricardo

Yes, was considering flying to Europe first, then onwards from there.

Taxes make up a large % of the costs, or seem to anyway.

Thanks both.

1.it makes NO sense at all flying into other ''nearby'' airports. VTE and PnPn are MUCH more pricey-as they dont have direct flights into LON. The only-perhaps, very little chance, are likely to be either KUL or SIN-as they have easy AirAsia or even overland links into TH (as you have non-O, it does not matter how you arrive land or air here).

2.you made that awful discovery that 100.000s of thousands of people have made before you. Singles indeed cost nearly the same as the lowest priced returns, and Uk taxes are just a tiny proportion of it-most populair Euro departures have similar taxes (but of course the Brits not used to euro-thinking are misled by their SUNs and other misprints). You were right in that any booked itinerary on airlines has a max validity of 364 days.

4.use/try out any of the many already suggested assembled booking agents-expedia, eastwest, travelsupermarket etc-they will list all and its generally no use at all to try out airlines apart. ONLY if you see consistently an airline listed on many sites as ''cheap enough'' its worthwhile to see if their own site also offers it-many times these are ''confidential'' fares not on their own sites, but sold en-gros by those agents and passed on.

5.with the factual demise of AirBerlin (now together with Etihad) there are NO more low-cost airlines from mainland Eur to TH. Also many of the former cheap Indian airls did not survive. There must be some truth in that-those ultra cheap fares will not sustain an airline.

I admire your calm response to such a rude reply, I doubt I would have given it the time of day. I flew one way with Air Malaysia for about £300 but think I was just lucky do get a good price. good luck in finding a good deal. I for one would rather "penny pinch" and save a a few pounds unlike some.

Skyscanner had LGW-BKK for 6th November, GBP 306 on Aerosvit, the snag being the 33-hour journey-time !

And Royal Brunei from LHR for about GBP 350-upwards, not too bad.
