Hi All,

I'm going to Thailand in November for about 2 months (60 days) and have applied and received a 60 day single entry TV here in Australia.

I have just found out some friends will be coming over to Thailand about a week after I arrive for 10days or so and they want me to go to Cambodia with them (by land).

Does this mean that I can't go with them as my visa is only single entry and I wont be able to stay the in Thailand the extra 40 or so days after I come back from Cambodia?

Can some please give me some options? or do I just need to change the Visa (here in Australia) and pay the money for a multiple entry one.

I hope I have explained it ok,

Thanks

2 options, I see:

1. (my favorit) Try not to use your tourist visa on your arrival from Australia, save it, for 'after Cambodia'

In case, the immigration officer asked for 'why', tell 'em, you are planing to go out of country, in some days, and wanna use it, the week after, for the almost 2 month of stay before your back flight.

2. In case, they insist, to stamp/use your tourist visa, ask for a re-entry permit (1000) baht, before you leave to Cambodia. Will save the tourist visa, you will get back to the 'end-date' of the first entry, once you enter Thailand again.

I don't know if you booked your flight or not nor if you can change the booking. If possible, you may wish to fly to Cambodia instead of Thailand, visit your friends, and then fly to Thailand. Your 60 day single entry visa would then be activated and you wouldn't have to deal with visa issues at Thai immigration.

Best of luck whatever you decide to do! : )

Thanks for the reply's guy's looks like the re-entry permit is the safest way to go. thumbsup.gif

I'm wondering every time, why so many people with the intention, to travel around, a bit, not trying to save there tourist visa for the second entry to Thailand.

Entering Thailand for the first <30 day stay with an stamp on arrival is possible. And that is not affecting your tourist visa, cause there is a validity, till you have yo use that one. Only do not fill in the visa number into the arrival card!

It worked for friends of mine, arriving via Bangkok, traveling short after to Laos and Cambodia, and getting the tourist visa 60 days, after they came back from Cambodia.

They didn't fill out the arrival card with the visa number, bud had a attentive officer, asking if they made a mistake. They told him, they would like to use it in about 3 weeks, cause they wanna travel to Laos and Cambodia, but planning to stay afterwards for almost 2 month in Thailand.

No problem, 30 day stamp. Back from Cambodia, via land border also no problem, 60 day tourist stamp.

And in case, the officer on your first entry is denying, you can go for a re-entry permit, then.

And that the officer from the second entry will deny it, I doubt that. Because that would mean, the first officer did something wrong. "But he/they told me, when I asked them, that I should do it this way"whistling.gif

Although you can ask it is not automatic approval and recent reports have been it is often not allowed - if you have a visa you use it or it is marked "used" and you can not use later. But nothing hurt in asking politely but be prepared for possible refusal.

If refused, the re-entry is still the option 2, I mentioned earlier!
