Brazilian woman auctions her virginity for 780,000 dollars

Rio de Janeiro - A 20-year-old Brazilian woman auctioned her virginity for 780,000 dollars to a Japanese bidder.

Catarina Migliorini said the proceeds from Wednesday night’s online sale would fund her medical studies and go to charities building homes in Brazil.

Agricultural fair to promote Thai produce

BANGKOK, Oct 25 - An agricultural fair has been organised from Oct 25-28 in the Thai capital in the hope of helping promote Thai produce.

Marketing Organization for Farmers (MOF)'s director Tanespon Tanaboonyawat said the "MOF: produce of good quality" fair is aimed at selling agricultural produce to the public while promoting Thai orchids of outstanding beauty and high value.

It aims to promote marketing channels and add more value to local communities' agricultural produce.

According to Mr Tanespon, Thailand is the world's number one exporter of tropical orchids and ranks number two for orchid plants after Taiwan.

The fair is divided into two parts: an exhibition to honour Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on agricultural innovation and agricultural goods sales of high quality goods at 140 booths from all parts of the country.

The event also provides opportunities for those interested to learn management techniques of orchid markets and other flowering plants. (MCOT online news)

Satun police seize 8,600 litres of oil, arrest four

SATUN: -- Police in Satun province on Thursday arrested four suspects including a woman who allegedly tried to transport a total of smuggled 8,600 litres of oil out of the province with intent to sell.

Police manning at a checkpoint on Kaming-Thung Nui road in Kuan Kalong district stopped four pickups for speeding. During their search, they found the vehicles had been modified to conceal the tanks of smuggled oil.

They confiscated a total of 8,600 litres. The suspects were identified as Muhammad Meeka, 47, of Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Sukree Hasoh, 30, Sudaporn Jong, 37, both of Satun, and Somsong Kaewnui, 50, of Yala.

The seized oil has an estimated market value of about Bt2 million. Police said the suspects allegedly planned to sell the smuggled oil in nearby provinces.

PHUKET: -- A total of 194 drivers were charged and fined yesterday for illegally operating a taxi or for not displaying the now-mandatory stickers that publicly identify the drivers on the sides of their vehicles.
